Heavy Metal Equipment & Rentals is looking to hire EXPERIENCED Bus Drivers for safety-sensitive positions in safety sensitive environments on a rotating schedule based out of Fort McMurray (Wood Buffalo Region) that are motivated, committed and wants to grow with us.
HOURLY base RATES for Bus Drivers: $35 - $44/hour. The regular scheduled rotation (140 hours) allows for 80 hours of regular + 60 hours of overtime.
+ Commuter Supports ($1,000/month)for eligible individuals commuting to the Wood Buffalo Region
+ 6.5% Premium for all gross earnings
+ Allowance for working in a remote location

Bus Drivers are responsible for a variety of tasks related to the safe operation and daily maintenance of a passenger bus as well as safely transporting team members from to and from their accommodations to the worksite. An excellent Bus Driver will be:

The Job
The Bus Driver will be required to work 10-hour days, on a rotating schedule of 14 days on and 14 days off.
Shifts will be split allowing for adequate coverage to transport individuals for their required shifts and providing down-time for a few hours in the afternoons.
As a Bus Driver, you will be expected to:
- Safely operate the passenger bus, bringing passengers to and from their accommodations to site
- Participate in, promote and adhere to safety initiatives and protocols as mandated by the company, the clients and legislation
- Accurately complete all necessary paperwork including daily pre and post trip inspections, field level assessments, log sheets, etc.
- Be knowledgeable and compliant with legislated, company and client requirements and standards
- Correctly assess and give attention to space and obstacles present
- Manage routes to maximize efficiencies and meet schedules
- Perform daily housekeeping of bus, reporting delays, deficiencies, and accidents immediately
- Operate all equipment needed to communicate with the company and passengers
- Be proficient in verbal and written communication, with the English language
- Report to various work sites as directed, following instructions given
- Conducts all business in a professional and respectful manner
What We Need From YOU:
- A desire to make a difference and take pride in your work
- Valid Class 2 license with Air Brakes and current commercial driver's abstract (5 year)
- A minimum of 2 years of experience operating a passenger bus
- Demonstrated commitment to safe work practices
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Be able to adapt to changes in environments quickly (weather, traffic, road conditions)
- Able to read, understand and follow legislation, policies and procedures
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Physical strength (ability to lift and manage 50 pounds)
- Knowledge and understanding of basic truck maintenance
- Ability to access all mine sites (no site bans)
- Excellent Customer Service skills
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent
As part of our Hiring Process, YOU will be asked to:
- Provide a minimum of a Class 2 Driver's License with Air Brakes
- Pass a driver’s evaluation
- Provide a criminal record check
- Complete drug and alcohol screening with a negative result
- Complete a fitness evaluation related specifically to your position
- Provide copies of current certifications (if you do not have any of the training required to be on site, we will provide it for you) including CSO/BSO
