Summary: As the Business Manager at Pelham Cares Inc., you will play a pivotal role in driving the organization's mission forward. This position involves managing day-to-day operations, providing leadership to a dedicated team of staff and volunteers, building strategic partnerships with external organizations, and working with the Board of Directors. Responsibilities:
- Operational Excellence: Oversee the daily operations of Pelham Cares, ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures. Make informed decisions on resource allocation to maximize the impact of our programs and services.
- Team Leadership: Manage and inspire 3 part-time staff members and a dedicated team of volunteers. Facilitate a positive work environment, ensuring tasks are effectively delegated, and conduct annual performance reviews.
- Community Partnership Building: Establish and maintain strong relationships with social services, municipality, industry, and business organizations to enhance operational efficiency and broaden the reach of our initiatives.
- Board Collaboration: Actively participate in all Board meetings, presenting monthly updates on operational activities. Bring forth new opportunities and requests for consideration, showcasing your proactive approach to enhancing Pelham Cares' impact.
- Communication and Marketing: Oversee marketing, social media, and communication efforts, collaborating with the President to coordinate media interactions. Share compelling stories that highlight the positive impact of Pelham Cares in the community.
- Resource Management: Supervise the procurement and distribution of essential items, with a focus on food safety standards. Coordinate bulk purchases, maintain inventory, and work closely with volunteers to ensure efficient sorting and distribution.
- Volunteer Coordination and Fundraising: Lead efforts in volunteer coordination, community outreach, and fundraising activities. Inspire community engagement and support to further the organization's goals.
Qualifications:
- Educational Background: Post-secondary education.
- Management Experience: Proven experience in a management or supervisory role in a non-profit charity is mandatory and experience in a food bank is ideal.
- Volunteers: Proven experience working with volunteers in a charity or a food bank (preferably both).
- Leadership Skills: Exhibit effective leadership, a positive and outgoing personality, and strong listening skills. Build and lead a cohesive team.
- Communication Skills: Exceptional critical thinking, organizational, and communication skills.
- Autonomy: Ability to meet deadlines and work independently with initiative.
- Accounting: Basic accounting experience is an asset.
- Food Safety: Possess or be willing to obtain a valid food safety training certification.
