Under the general supervision of the Echocardiography Supervisor, and as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team providing patient-centered care, the Cardiac Sonographer II is responsible for instruction of Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography students during their rotation through the clinic or hospital, performs echocardiograms with a focus on adult procedures; receives and completes requisitions, forms and preliminary reports; prepares patients for procedures and monitors supplies and equipment; monitors patients while observing patient safety practices; and operates ultrasound equipment, including preparing and presenting patient data to reporting physicians.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Training And Experience
- Graduation from an approved Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography Diploma Program.
- Sonography Canada and/or American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) certification credentials as a Generalist Sonographer and three (3) years recent, related experience, echocardiography scanning experience preferred, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification - Basic Life Support (BCLS) level (CCHW Site Only).
- Eligible for registration with Sonography Canada.
