We’re looking for an experienced carpenter's assistant excited to create renovation projects that fulfill our clients’ goals. The successful candidate who joins our team will have a positive attitude, and be customer service-oriented, hardworking, punctual, dependable, and self-motivated.
Job Description
In this role, your duties will include but not be limited to:
- Travelling to job sites throughout Simcoe County with own work truck and tools.
- Ability to adhere to the company’s safety policies
- Complete work on schedule
- Keeping the job site clean
- Working safely in hot and cold weather, willing to work in varying weather conditions
- Ability to lift to 50 pounds
- Demolition
- Assist in the layout of foundations, building lines, and anchor bolts
- Dig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations, and compact and level earth to grade specifications using appropriate tools.
- Unload materials from truck
- Load, unload, and identify building materials, machinery, and tools, then distribute them to the appropriate locations according to project plans and specifications.
- Erect and disassemble scaffolding, shoring, braces, traffic barricades, ramps, and other temporary structures with guidance
- Measure, mark, and record openings and distances to lay out areas where construction work will be performed with guidance
- Ability to climb ladders, crawl, lift, and manipulate materials
- Working at heights
- Ability and experience using hand power tools and woodworking machinery such as table saws, band saws, radial arm saws, circular saws, sanders, joiners, and nail guns in a safe and effective manner
- Assist with framing crews
- Cut timber and lumber to specified dimensions
- Assist with roofing materials
- Assist with siding
- Assist with the installation of windows and doors
- Cut and install insulation with guidance
- Assist with drywall
- Smooth and sand surfaces
- Aid co-workers such as carpenters, with cabinet assembly and cabinet installation.
- Assist with trim work
- Complete online timesheets daily
Experience/Skills:
- Attention to detail
- Professionally present yourself in customers' home
Requirements:
- Ability to understand verbal and written instructions
- Valid G License
- Criminal Record Check
- Your own transportation to sites required
- Must have steel-toed safety boots and a hard hat
- Must have own personal carpentry tools
- We require all staff to be Covid-19 vaccinated
Salary: Commensurate with experience, range $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
Job Type: Permanent, Full-time
