Job Role:
To assist and oversee all operations of the construction division as it relates to residential carpentry and CIP concrete. This includes but is not limited to estimating, quoting, project planning and execution, aftercare and warranty work.
- Ability to speak, read and write English
- Valid Class 3F License
- Ability to stand and work with your hands for long periods of time
- Have 2 years in a management or supervisory role
- Ability to work within a leadership team directing company activities
- Ability to lead a team of individuals
- Comfortable with working in dusty, hot, wet and/or cold temperatures
- Comfortable working weekends if schedule permits
- 2 years of experience in carpentry related work such as framing, finishing, concrete, etc.
- Experience using Excel, or spreadsheet programs
- Experience coordinating logistics and creating accurate material take offs
- Ability to schedule a day of work for multiple crews performing different tasks
Daily Tasks Include:
- Review previous days progress, and fill and file proper reports within cloud based management software
- Execute work orders and directives for field crews
- Supervise field crews and ensure work meets expected quality standards
- Meet expected allocated labour hours and timelines across all projects
- Complete material take offs and assist in project estimating
- Ensure division staff adhere to all safety protocols
- Perform quality control on carpentry work sites
- Ensure client satisfaction by means of site visits and following up on requests
- Communicate schedules with clients when requested
- Responsible for assisting in new employee on-boarding
- Physically work and complete carpentry scopes of work on site
- Access and review building plans
Required Skills:
- A Red Seal certificate in Carpentry or a related field
- Ability to work alone and/or unsupervised for extended periods of time
- High level of organization
- Ability to train, motivate and encourage employees
- Experience forming and pouring concrete, general framing, finish carpentry, building exterior and custom carpentry work and the ability to complete this work
- Experience working within a residential setting to design and build decks, fences, pergolas, pavilions, pool houses, cabanas, garages, etc.
- Ability to use technology and cloud based software programs
- Organizational skill for schedules, spread sheets and reporting
Length of Employment:
- Year Round, Permanent
Summer:
- Monday to Friday
- Weather and schedule may require some Saturday work.
- Approx. 10 hours daily
Winter:
- Monday to Friday
- Saturdays are not required during the winter months
- A flexible schedule is permitted allowing shorter work weeks and work days
- Approx. 6-8 hours daily
