Position Overview
The successful candidate for this position will develop and implement social, recreational programs geared towards survivors of Brain Injury and Stroke. The candidate will support members in their quest to live independently, often following an illness or accident, and help them access support with housing, finances, social activities and life skills such as cooking or budgeting.
The Casual Call-In Activities Coordinator may be asked to perform the following duties:
* Organize group activities
* Facilitate exercise classes
* Cook/Serve food
The candidate may be asked to facilitate group sessions such as Caregiver Support.
This role also requires the candidate to work collaboratively with other team members as well as work independently at times. A high level of confidentiality will be required. The successful candidate for this position will report directly to the Site Manager. Due to the small size of the organization, the candidate will work in a very collaborative environment where opportunities to expand on their interests will be available.
Preference given to candidates who possess their Food Handlers Certificate and/or Group Fitness Certification.
Candidate Requirements
✓ Experience working with individuals affected by stroke or brain injury
✓ Compassion and patience when working with individuals with disabilities
✓ Possess a combination of communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
✓ Ability to work within a team environment
✓ Police Information Check (please note that it may take several weeks to obtain)
✓ Ability to communicate in both French and English considered an asset.
Job Type: Casual
Pay: From $16.55 per hour
Expected hours: 1 – 20 per week
