Casual Call In Health Care Aide
REPORTS TO:
Resident Care Manager
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Health Care Aide provides personal care and assistance with all activities of daily living to all residents.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be fluent in English (verbal and written)
- S.W certificate of college equivalent (D.S.W, H.C.A) required
- Must be able to read, understand and follow instructions including but not limited to job descriptions and procedures, MSDS information, chemical dilution instructions and use
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Must conduct themselves in a courteous manner at all times and have excellent customer service skills
- Must be organized and able to multi-task in a fast paced environment
- Excellent communication skills evidenced by ability to work well with fellow staff in all departments, ability to communicate and identify problems with proposed solutions to managers and co-workers.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To maintain a clean, safe environment in the facility.
- Work as a member of a team with all other facility personnel.
- Be knowledgeable of and practice facility’s fire and safety programs.
JOB DESCRIPTIONS:
- Assess resident’s conditions by recognizing signs and symptoms and report same to RPN in charge.
- Provide personal care, in accordance with established policies, physician orders and nursing standards.
- Participate in staff development, safety, environmental and infection control programs.
- Deal courteously with all staff, residents, families and stakeholders.
- Take perspective residents and other interested parties on tours of the facility.
- Complete daily, weekly and monthly duties as per the job duties outlines.
- Participate in fire safety and mock disaster procedures.
- Have knowledge of the Retirement Home Act.
- Complete Flow sheets and document refusal of care.
- Answer call bells and assist residents as required.
- Adhere to all organization policies and procedures.
- Report all incidents to the RPN on duty.
- Assist with monthly vital signs and weights as required.
- Teach good health habits.
- Assist residents with ambulation where required.
- Provide emergency first aid until appropriate medical care is available.
- Assist with the admission and discharge procedure as required.
- Assist with maintaining accurate records of care that requires extra charges.
- Other duties delegated by the RPN on duty or the Director of Care.

- A vulnerable sector Police Background Check
- Negative 2 step TB test
