Location: Central Office, 60 Lorne Street, Truro, NS


The Chignecto-Central Regional Centre for Education is located in beautiful Central & Northern Nova Scotia, Canada. The Regional Centre serves approximately 20,000 students from Pre-Primary to grade Twelve, in 65 schools. CCRCE is inviting applications for the position of Coordinator of Property Services. Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of Operational Services, the Coordinator of Property Services leads the Property Services division in the operations of all schools, offices and bus garages within the Regional Centre. The Coordinator of Property Services manages a team of supervisors responsible for the effective and efficient delivery of daily custodial and maintenance services, and manages projects and renovation programs in support of schools and the public education system. The Coordinator of Property Services is a member of the Operational Services management team and collaborates with principals, regional staff and provincial departments to ensure regulatory requirements are met and safe and healthy learning environments are maintained.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field
  • Formal training in construction, building operation and/or facilities management with relevant experiences may be considered
  • A minimum of five (5) years’ supervisory experience
  • A minimum of five (5) years' experience in related functions such as facilities management, custodial, maintenance or safety management
  • Valid license to operate a vehicle in Nova Scotia

Responsibilities

  • Facilities Management: Collaborates with senior management, school principals, Property Services, department managers and the Department of Education lead in the physical operation of CCRCE schools and buildings which provide an appropriate environment to support educational services.
  • Program development: Coordinate the development of comprehensive custodial and maintenance programs for CCRCE schools and offices following applicable regulations, facility management guidelines and industry standards to assist in maintaining healthy and safe facilities.
  • Regulatory management: Develop and implement management systems to ensure compliance with all environmental, health and safety regulations, standards and guidelines required in the suitable operations of school buildings and grounds along with their associated systems.
  • Communications/Partnership Development: Develops and sustains linkages with individuals, groups, organizations, government agencies and other departments as a means of achieving the Property Service goals of the CCRCE.
  • Safety Engineering: Coordinate the evaluation of facilities, products, processes and systems using qualitative and quantitative methodologies to identify and assess potential hazards and associated risks.
  • Quality Management: Ensures that service delivery is carried out in accordance with provincial, Regional Centre, regulatory and professional standards including recommendations for improvement of the CCRCE educational system.
  • Project Management: Direct the project management of major CCRCE maintenance projects and provincially assigned capital construction endeavours.
  • Fiscal Management: Lead Property Services in a fiscally responsible manner within the financial framework and budget as provided by the Regional Centre.
  • Human Resources: Develop and maintain suitable operational practices and training programs for staff. Other tasks include maintaining proper documentation training, job descriptions and staff evaluations.
