Whitewater's Finance team is looking for a candidate to join our team in Richmond, BC in the following role:


Position: Chief Financial Officer

Department: Finance

Location: Richmond, Canada

Reports to: CEO


The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) plays a key role in the leadership of the WhiteWater Group of Companies. The role is responsible for improving profitability, leading fiscal planning, contributing to strategy, effectively managing cash and mitigating risk all with the intention of increasing the overall business value of the WhiteWater Group of Companies. We see this role playing a pivotal role at the Corporate level as well as being actively involved with the Business Units.

As a trusted advisor, you will provide innovative solutions that meet financing, due diligence and strategic goals (including Mergers & Acquisitions) with a focus on developing strategies and processes that will continuously improve WhiteWater's results.

Serving as a strategic business partner to the CEO and the senior leadership team, you are in-charge of championing business growth, building the business for scale and making WhiteWater one of the best places to work at.


ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:


Strategic and Opportunity Management

  • As the CFO for this group, you are an entrepreneur at heart, and responsible to develop new business models and value propositions for the future growth.
  • Be a thoughtful and strategic partner on key business decisions through sophisticated business modeling analysis, sound commercial judgement, as well as highlighting options, trade-offs, risks and opportunities.
  • Develop and lead the execution of long-term business strategies, considering corporate goals, complex external factors, risk assessment, and evolving regulatory and legal requirements.
  • Perform market diligence on solid commercial opportunities to meet and exceed revenue goals.
  • Collaborate with CEO and leadership team on new business opportunities and strategies to improve the company's market position for financial growth, build zero-base business cases for new opportunities and markets and present to the team.
  • Drive and support activities associated with acquisition, merger, strategy, or financing initiatives.
  • Ensure alignment of current industry trends with. strategic direction of WhiteWater by providing insights and oversight in the spirit of continuous improvement.
  • Prepare market analyses and identify, quantify and prioritize commercial opportunities for WhiteWater achieving growth and revenue targets.
  • Analyze the best means to allocate resources, fund capital investments and manage working capital.
  • Recognize value drivers as well as value detractors within the business and take steps to mitigate detractors and facilitate drivers.
  • Strong understanding on what is happening in the industry to provide strategic know-how and ideation with executive leadership team (such as commercial business strategies/opportunities, revenue streams/creation of revenue).

Financial Operations and Planning

  • Strategic management of accounting and finance functions, reporting systems, implementing accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls procedures, recommending improvements and level of authority.
  • Responsible for enabling a world class controls framework on all financial matters and ensuring key business decisions are made in line with sound financial governance practices.
  • Provide high-level guidance to individual business units, in addition to Corporate.
  • Provide support and advice to the stakeholders on various business issues including strategy, financing, acquisitions, foreign exchange hedging, employee safety.
  • Create complex financial models and perform detailed financial and valuation analyses on potential acquisitions and other strategic initiatives.
  • Liaise and manage relationship with business partners, accounting firms, law firms, investors, financial institutions, external auditors, insurers and realtors, government auditors, and communicate with executive team on any issues.
  • Accountable for due diligence for acquisition of new Companies (financing, accounting, tax, insurance, US benefits) and amalgamating each of these Companies onto Whitewater systems and reporting standards.


Leadership and People Management

  • Mentor, motivate and coach team members towards professional and personal development by setting clear expectations, providing feedback, and conducting performance reviews.
  • Demonstrate sound approaches to the business problems with a consumer/customer mindset.
  • Facilitate change management and integration best practices in financial planning, reporting and structure.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:


In addition to bringing a commitment to WhiteWater West's vision and values, the ideal candidate should come with broad base of financial and commercial acumen, familiarity with complex financial models and a combination of:

  • Bachelors in Business, Commerce, Finance or related discipline, MBA or equivalent would be preferred
  • Minimum 8-10 years of leadership experience in finance, strategy and corporate development in a similar or technology company
  • Natural born leader; self-driven with an entrepreneurial spirit coupled with pragmatic and roll-up sleeves mentality
  • Foundational builder; you thrive in building practices for strong foundational performance and able to identify evolving needs
  • Attitude and drive will be key for this role - thinking and behaving with an ownership mindset
  • Skilled in strategy development, including project prioritization, hypotheses development, financial and business modeling, strategic options identification, consensus building, and implementation
  • Ability to identify, prioritize, structure, and solve sophisticated business problems
  • Mergers & Acquisition experience with strength in valuations, due diligence, and related integration
  • Strong quantitative skills including financial modeling and valuation techniques
  • Experience in negotiating and closing major financial transactions
  • Team player with executive presence and demeanor along with superb written and oral communication and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal, problem solving, planning and organizational skills
  • Evidence of strong relationship-building skills, cross-functional leadership capabilities and high emotional intelligence will be valued
