Role
Working from a trauma-informed, feminist, anti-oppressive framework, a Client Support Worker (CSW) is a crucial team member that plays an integral role within CAWES. A CSW provides support to clients as well as our team of Crisis Workers. This involves offering essential support, resources, and referrals for women and children in crisis, ultimately enhancing the overall client experience at CAWES.
Job Responsibilities
· Provide telephone and walk-in support, complete violence assessments, and offer crisis intervention for women seeking assistance.
· Complete comprehensive safety plans.
· Offer information and referrals as appropriate.
· Answer phone lines and direct calls to the appropriate departments.
· Assist clients with donations and other items as required.
· Assist clients with storage and retrieval of belongings.
· Conduct an accurate and concise shift change report for the oncoming shift.
· Ensure accurate file maintenance and documentation, demonstrating professional standards in a timely manner.
· Assist in training and mentoring new staff.
· Provide feedback to the leadership team.
· Maintain client confidentiality.
· Comply with all policies and procedures of CAWES.
· Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
Education
· Minimum grade 12 diploma.
Experience
· Experience with supporting survivors of domestic violence and/or human service field is considered an asset.
Certification/Licenses
· Criminal record check with a vulnerable sector check and child intervention record.
· First Aid Level C with CPR & AED is considered an asset, or willingness to obtain.
· ASIST is considered an asset, or willingness to obtain.
Varying shift schedule
· Day shift 10 am –6:30 pm.
· Day shift 7 am – 7 pm.
· Afternoon shift 9 am – 9pm.
· Night shift 7 pm –7 am.
A set number of shifts cannot be guaranteed, as shifts will be assigned based on operational demand and the availability of casual staff. Casual employees may be asked to work a variety of shifts, with an emphasis on nights and weekends.
