The Community Support Worker (Part-time) is a front-line support position that works directly with individuals with disabilities. The individual (our family member) requiring support is a 46-year-old woman with complex needs (autism, developmental delay, and mental illness). More detailed information about the individual and the position will be supplied during the interviewing process.
Reporting directly to the guardians, the Community Support Worker is responsible for providing support to our family member to enable her to be a valued, contributing member of the community. Guided by the goals and objectives determined by the ISP and in collaboration and consultation with the family and individual, the Community Support Worker will be responsible for supporting the development of skills and competencies that will assist her to explore, pursue, and fulfill her employment goals and recreational interests (familiar and new). Similarly, the Community Support Worker will be responsible for liaising with a variety of community entities (employers, clubs, recreational groups) to support those entities in their efforts to engage the individual.
Our family member lives in Chestermere; Pick up and drop off will be located at her home in Chestermere. This position also requires that applicants are willing to provide Calgary Transit training on the Max Purple line.
Qualifications and Requirements:
-The ability to work independently in unstructured environments and to employ effective time management skills
-Knowledge of Calgary Transit system, City of Calgary and area
-A valid Class 5 driver’s license; access to a reliable vehicle
- Current insurance with $2M liability and a driver’s abstract; this requirement must be supplied/completed independently or be current within 6 months
-Current First Aid and CPR certification
-Criminal Record Check complete with a vulnerable sector check; this requirement is completed independently by the Support Worker, or must be no more than 6 months old.
Paid monthly at an hourly rate of $21.54 for 20 hours a week. Pay rate is determined by PDD Alberta. PDD does not pay mileage for this position as the position is contractor based.
