Commercial Underwriter

Position Title: Commercial Underwriter, Yarmouth Mutual Insurance Company

Position Summary

Our Underwriters play a fundamental role within the company in upholding our reputations as a Mutual Insurer that offers exceptional insurance experiences to our Brokers, Agents, and members.

This role is responsible for assessing, pricing, and accepting risks in accordance with the company’s guidelines and objectives in order to comply with the underwriting standards. This team member maintains existing and new accounts with endorsements, renewals, new business and quoting along with building strong relationships with our agents and broker partners.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with brokers, agents, and other business partners

- Apply technical knowledge and expertise to underwrite and issue new business, renewals, endorsements, and cancellations while adhering to binding authorities and company policies

- Demonstrate strong organizational and time management skills to meet workload demands

- Adhere to team and organizational policies and procedures

- Consistently demonstrate professional behavior and a positive attitude

- Maintain strict confidentiality

Qualifications

- CIP designation, or actively pursuing would be considered an asset

- Minimum of 3 years of experience in property and casualty commercial insurance

- Strong knowledge and understanding of commercial business operations

- Auto insurance experience considered an asset

- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office; Outlook, Word and Excel

- Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills

- Detail oriented, sound decision making and problem solving skills

Salary: $45,000.00-$85,000.00 per year
