Our dedicated team at Participation Lodge Grey-Bruce is committed to helping individuals with complex needs achieve a true “quality of life” which goes well beyond the basic needs of personal care. This position is for 2 supported individuals 1:1 support team for community-based clients located in Owen Sound. We are looking for 2 temporary part-time Support Worker to join our amazing team!
Joining the program requires the successful applicant to be willing to work as a team and able to work both day and night shifts, consisting primarily of 12-hour shifts.
The Ideal Candidate will possess:
- Training in Acquired brain Injuries, behavioural interventions, mental health, and/or other health services.
- Experience working with clients with physical and/or developmental disabilities, and those requiring high behavioual supports.
- DSW training is preferred, but we are happy to consider all applicants experienced with complex needs and behaviour management
- Preference will be given to applicants with Autism Support experience
- All employees must be able to diligently follow a Behavioural Support Plan in order to ensure client success, and be able to work as a partner with the client’s family advocates
- Clear criminal background check and valid CPR/First Aid certification
- Valid G drivers license with clean 3-year abstract (we will obtain upon hire)
- Proof of vaccination against Covid-19 is required, consideration for those with medical exception
- The ability to work independently and excellent communication skills to collaborate with the rest of the support team
This role offers:
- Scheduling flexibility, depending on your availability, up to 80 hours bi-weekly.
- 4-week master schedule rotation so you always know your schedule, for part-time and full-time positions

You will:
- Support the person in accessing and participating in the community.
- Support the person in daily activities such as shopping, cleaning preparing for appointments and outings,
- Support the person with personal care and hygiene needs.
- Assist the person in developing new skills including daily living skills, communication skills and social interaction skills.
- Facilitate self-advocacy and empowerment.
- Support the individual access and maintain work, or other experiences.
You will: Learn to develop person-centred working relationships with Supported Individual and their family in their daily lives through:
- taking personal responsibility for learning about the Supported Individual (SI)
- listening to the SI and working with the Substitute Decision Maker (SDM) in planning and day to day decisions
- reflecting on own practice to continuously develop knowledge and skills.
- Assisting the SI to develop and maintain a high standard of personal hygiene and appearance.
- Supporting SI to make appropriate choices regarding their nutritional needs.
- Administering medication as directed, in accordance with SI needs and taking full account of the Medication Policy and Procedures
- Actively encouraging and supporting leisure and meaningful activities both inside and outside of the home, in accordance with SI interests, choices and needs.
- Adhering to all safeguarding requirements and any procedures aimed at the protection of SI and staff.
