Job Description
- The supervision of youth in the Connections Program within the Attendance Centre and at any designated satellite locations in Essex County
- Educational instruction, assistance, supervision, relationship and service to youth who are registered in the Connections program as they present with multiple and complex needs
- To assist in the development of youth education plans and implementation of plans
- To assist students in the maintenance of academic work that is presented by their home schools
- Have a clear understanding of modalities and strength based instruction
- Ability to follow recommendations of I.E.P. and/or I.P.R.C. when made available
- Work with clients, both one-on-one and in small groups, to provide assistance with assignments/homework, learning strategies and study skills
- Connect with home school instructors to ensure familiarity with course assignments and instructor expectation
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Education
- Recognized teaching qualifications
- Must have experience working in a school classroom
- An understanding of at risk and high risk youth would be an asset
- Police Record Clearance and Vulnerable Sector Screening is required
- NVCI, CPR, First Aid Certificate, Immunization record, medical clearance, a valid Ontario Class "G: driver's license and access to a vehicle for business use is required prior to working directly with clients
