Summary:

A Construction Scheduler at Clearway is responsible for the creation, maintenance and updating of CPM schedules of construction projects. Tasks involve developing schedules, revisions of schedules, time keeping, document control, coordination with project team, and creating progress reports of the project. The position is based out of the field office for the project within the GTA. The role entails working closely with our estimating teams, project coordinators and project managers and all business and technical teams within the company to meet organizational objectives.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Identify major milestones, critical approvals, and long lead procurement items.
  • Participate in the planning and schedule preparation process during pursuits and response to RFP documents in projects.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining construction project schedules using Primavera P6 software
  • Following up with Site personnel and Senior Management to verify details of proposed project schedules
  • Responsible for any revisions of sequence or duration being made to the schedule based on resource allocation, material supply and other factors
  • Review the vendor, and sub-contractor schedule submittals and incorporate it into the construction project schedule.
  • Conduct regular meetings with the Site Personnel, including but not limited to the Site Superintendent, Project Coordinator, Project Manager and Senior Management, to review completed work, and confirm upcoming work
  • Ensure deadlines are kept and major milestones per the project are outlined within schedules
  • Improve scheduling efficiencies
  • Prepare and maintain the project schedule log on a regular basis
  • Promptly notifying representatives of perceived changes in the contract conditions and/or the proposed scope of work
  • Working with the project team to identify errors and brainstorm strategies to avoid potential delays, and to accelerate the completion of the work.
  • Develop and maintain strong customer focused relationships with all stakeholders
  • Help Track Delays on progress schedule and develop time impact analysis "TIA" in a timely contractual manner for extension of time requests and delay claims.
  • Complete additional administrative tasks as required to by Senior Management
  • Determines reasonable schedule logic and constraints based on discussion with technical and business teams.
  • Develops realistic activity durations based on production rates and available manpower based on discussion with technical and business teams.
  • Assigns resources (cost, labour, equipment, and materials) to activities and develops cash flow reports and resource histograms.
  • Develops Schedule Narratives and Progress Reports in line with specified Contract requirements.
  • Evaluates critical and near critical path activity sequences.
  • Assesses actual progress based on site inspections.
  • Identifies schedule changes and trends.
  • Develops earned value reports.
  • Suggests corrective actions and/or develop recovery plans when delays are anticipated or occur.
  • Supports risk allocation and value engineering workshops.
  • Prepares post construction as-built schedules and lessons learned reports.

Requirements:


  • University or College education - B. Eng. or Construction Engineering Technology program.
  • 5+ years' experience in construction related activities.
  • 3+ years' experience in scheduling related activities.
  • Proficient experience in Primavera projects (P6) and report preparation skills.
  • Knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM)
  • Strong to expertise level using Excel.
  • Knowledge and use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe. Blue Beam Revu is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Jonas Construction Software and Heavy Bid Estimating programs would be an added benefit.
  • Experience in LRT, Railway, Transit, MTO and typical linear civil construction projects is an asset.
  • Excellent communication, organization, time-management, and leadership skills.
  • Willingness and ability to learn new technology quickly and adapt.
  • Ability to quickly earn the trust of peers, project teams and key project stakeholders to mobilize and motivate teams.
  • Ability to problem solve.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize
  • Ability to meet and adhere to deadlines and work under strict time constraints
  • Be self-motivated and driven
  • Ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Valid Ontario Drivers License
