The Ina Group is a locally owned business in the heart of Langford. We are comprised of two used car dealerships, a service centre, and a marine store. We believe that our employees are our greatest asset and are currently looking for a Controller.
Reporting directly to the Owner and working closely with the Vice President, the Controller will be responsible for directing and managing the dealerships accounting functions, timely preparation of monthly financial statements, and establishing practices and procedures. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, an understanding of automotive industry accounting practices, and the ability to provide strategic financial guidance.
The Controller has a wide variety of responsibilities, including but not exclusive to:
- Leading the day to day operations of the Accounting Dept, ensuring that all tasks are completed in a timely, accurate manner.
- Relationship management and act as point of contact with bank and external accountants.
- Manage relationships with various suppliers and vendors.
- Monthly reconciliation of the balance sheet accounts and manage cash flow.
- Issue timely and accurate financial statements for month end and year end
- Calculate and issue financial operating metrics, suggesting new metrics for the Vice President to review to gain additional insight into performance.
- Forecasting financial goals for each month to maintain the dealership's profitability.
- Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management
- Provide financial analyses as needed, in particular for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations
- Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants (ie: debt equity ratio)
- Remit all provincial and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
- Comply with all industry regulations.
- Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure the integrity of financial information.
- Conduct periodic internal audits to identify and address areas of improvement.
- In-depth knowledge of dealership accounting practices, financial reporting, and taxation.
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting and internal control principles.
- Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills to evaluate alternatives and provide recommendations on business issues.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience and Qualifications
- Prior automotive controller experience
- Strong excel and PBS v10 experience
- Payroll experience an asset
- Solid analytical, technical, and mathematical abilities.
- Thorough knowledge of financial and accounting practices and procedures.
- Knowledge and understanding of applicable federal, provincial, and local regulations and laws pertaining to the automotive industry.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
