The Opportunity
Mosaic is seeking a Quality Control Supervisor to work out of our Nanaimo, Nanoose Bay or Campbell River office on Vancouver Island, British Columbia.

The Role
Reporting to the Manager, Quality Control and Log Flow, the Quality Control Supervisor will be responsible for leading the Log Quality and Value Recovery program activities to support harvest and purchase volume management activities.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Leading the Log Quality and Value Recovery program;
  • Creating and advising on log manufacturing and distribution prescriptions;
  • Overseeing prescription distribution processes, ensuring changes and updates are carried forward;
  • Monitoring log quality processes for consistency and value optimization;
  • Coordination and monitoring of product forecasting;
  • Supervision of Quality Control Contractors;
  • Ensuring Contract Management and Log Quality Information systems are maintained and utilized;
  • Monitoring log quality management activities and processes to health & safety, environmental and ethical standards and industry requirements;
  • Developing quality performance indicators and monitoring Company performance;
  • Participating in department strategic planning initiatives, providing input into budget and priority development;
  • Identifying quality irregularities and deficiencies and developing tactics to address issues; and
  • Identifying innovative and cost-effective opportunities to improve existing practices, processes and systems and supports implementation processes where applied.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent preferred, but not required;
  • 5+ years of quality management/scaling experience within the Forestry industry;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Strong negotiation skills;
  • Ability to manage deadlines, multiple projects and budgets under time and resource pressures;
  • Working knowledge of coastal log harvest, quality and scaling procedures and systems; and
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Compensation
The annual salary range for this position is $72,600 to $90,750. Individual compensation is commensurate with skill, relevant experience, and education.
