Are you looking for an opportunity for additional income as a cook? The hospital Cook I position is equivalent to a Demi Chef de Partie position in hotel restaurant kitchens. The Cook I must be able to prepare soups, stews, chilis, sandwiches, and salads, from scratch. You are comfortable cleaning larger cuts of meats in preparation for roasting, grilling, searing, cooking fish and vegetarian meals. The Cook I can prepare full meals including, potato, rice and grain dishes with vegetables and sauces. You know how to prepare breakfast from scratch including muffins, scones, and sweet loaves. The Cook I is competent in preparing a variety of international foods as influenced by Asia, Italy, Latin America, and Greece etc. This position is at the Banff Mineral Springs Hospital. The patient food services department in this multi-service facility makes a difference every day in the lives of over 40 patients and long-term care residents by preparing and serving high quality from scratch meals with excellent customer service. As a casual employee, you can take shifts around your schedule, allowing you the freedom to set your own work-life balance. The Cook I is responsible for the preparation of food items for patients, residents, cafeteria service, and Meals on Wheels. Work is to be completed in a safe manner with superior quality and customer service. The Cook I also assists in cash handling duties, preparing baked items, and submitting food orders. You will work under minimal supervision, following all applicable policies and standard operating procedures. The Cook I is responsible for the provision of care in alignment with the Mission, Vision, and Values of Covenant Health and the Banff Mineral Springs Hospital. Description:

Required Qualifications:
A Journeyman certificate is required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Grade 12 or equivalent. Minimum two [2] years of recent institutional food service experience, large quantity cooking experience, required. Will consider a recognized equivalent or demonstrated recent and related experience. Ability to read, write, speak and understand English, required. Basic knowledge of regular and special diets, required. Basic computer skills, required. Food Safe Certification required. Clear Criminal Records Check required.
