Job Description
The Cook is responsible for preparing, cooking, and arranging food in accordance to A&W's guidelines. This individual will not only understand and utilize proper food safety protocol, but will also exercise caution when utilizing kitchen utensils and equipment. The Cook may also be required to assist with other projects behind the scenes as needed.
Essential Duties:
- Food preparation and cooking including the utilization of various cooking methods, equipment and appliances
- Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
- Ability to understand and follow recipes exactly (semi-accurate) - providing assistance and support to chefs when necessary
- Food presentation and quality control including the ability to taste test food
- Cleaning up the kitchen including the utilization of various cleaning methods
- Work as a team member in a behind the scenes capacity
- Work with little to no supervision as a trained apprentice
- Work under limited supervision as an individual preparing food at a higher level than group size
- Other duties as assigned by management
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
- Prior experience in a restaurant kitchen preferred
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment, maintain quality standards, and cooperate well with others
- Strong knowledge of various cooking methods, equipment and appliances preferred
- Prior experience with at least one high volume kitchen operation is required
- Prior experience working as a team member in a high-volume restaurant is required
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Salary: From $16.80 per hour

Education:
- Secondary School (preferred)
Licence/Certification:
- Food Safe, SafeCheck, Food Handler or equivalent (preferred)
