Bruce County proudly operates two Long Term Care Homes — Gateway Haven located in Wiarton, Ontario and Brucelea Haven of Walkerton, Ontario. These homes provide quality services to the residents and their families.
The success of the operation of Bruce County's Long Term Care Homes is built on the foundation that this is a true 'home' for all its Residents. Home is a place where residents may live with dignity and in security, safety, and comfort and have their physical, psychological, social, spiritual, and cultural needs adequately met. The Dietary department at Gateway Haven Long Term Care Home is currently accepting applications for the position of Permanent Full-Time Cook/Food Service Worker.
Under the direction of the Dietary Services Manager the Cook/Food Service Worker contributes to the efficient operation of the department with responsibility to produce high quality meals in a safe and sanitary environment This position is key to the facility, preparing and serving meals to the residents of the home in a pleasant and respectful manner. The sucessful candidate will be genuinely interested in caring for the elderly, in good physical condition (able to lift up to fifty pounds), and be able to work independently when required.

Salary
The starting wage rate for the Cook position is $27.22 per hour.
The starting wage rate for the Food Service Worker position is $25.17 per hour.

Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent
Chef Training or Culinary Management diploma or Certificate, Certificate of Qualification as a Cook or a post-secondary diploma in Food and Nutrition Management or a post-secondary degree in Food and Nutrition as per O.Reg. 79/10 of the Long Term Care Homes Act, 2007
Safe Food Handling Certificate
One year experience in quantity food production
Mature, reliable and able to work with minimal supervision
Able to work within a team environment
Genuine interest in the well-being of the elderly
Demonstrated patience, adaptability and flexibility
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Able to lift objects up to 50 lbs.
Two-step tuburculosis skin test
Clear criminal background check - vulnerable sector screen
