Job description

Customer Service & Sales Rep

Urgently Needed for Fast-Growing Small Business

Are you happy with your current job?

Are you looking for a thriving company, a local leader in its field, that’s been growing every year without fail?

Are you looking for a highly successful company that can offer you an excellent long-term career path?

Scott’s Quality Lawn Care, a leading Central Alberta business within the Lawn Care industry, is seeking a Customer Service & Sales Rep preferably with at least 2 to 3 years of customer service & sales, administrative & general office experience preferably within a small business office environment.

This is an excellent long-term career opportunity for the right person. We pride ourselves in hiring the best caliber of employees to join the Scotts Quality Lawn Care Team. For us it’s about the skills one brings to the table… but even more importantly, it’s also about the “right fit”, the right temperament, and how your talents add to those of your co-workers on our Team.

PLEASE NOTE: This job posting is purposely detailed so that you know EXACTLY what we’re looking for in skills and experience. For any position we are usually receivingover 20 resumes per day, meaning you’re competing with a lot of other candidates so you’ll want to put your best foot forward. You’ll need you to show us why you’re the best person for this position. We fully understand and respect that there are a lot of people looking for work currently. We wish everybody the best in their job search as we know how challenging it can be. However, for this key position within our Company, we’re necessarily being very particular about finding the right person. We’re looking for an "amazing" candidate to fill this position.

We’re a thriving small business that’s been steadily growing its customer base and market share since its inception back in 2010.

*** We’re looking for a personable, professional, highly-dedicated, detail-oriented, and efficient individual who believes in doing their best always. Being great with customers and co-workers, is a MUST ---

Ÿ Customer Service can mean many different things. We are looking for experience within a very busy office environment, wherein it’s direct-to-customer service and support (via the phone glued to your ear, so to speak, not unlike a busy call center at our busiest times).

Ÿ You’ll be one of our front lines’ “ambassadors” selling our 1600+ customers our numerous services.

*** Prior small business experience is a huge asset and “wearing multiple hats” as needs may be, is the norm.

*** Apart from some considerable diversity and depth within those 2 to 3 years of experience, some of your key personal strengths MUST BE your flexibility, adaptability, and dependability.

Ÿ We’re looking for someone who is a quick learner and embraces change, and is accustomed to a dynamic evolving small business. We surely have our normal daily and monthly routines but we’re growing fast which means, you need to be able to adapt along with us.

Ÿ If you prefer only routine predictability and the same old, same old everyday, or that things must run like never-changing clockwork or else you can’t handle it, this opportunity is NOT for you.

*** If you have a proven track record of contributing to the success of the previous organizations you've been part of, in a similar office position, we want to talk to you!

RESPONSIBILITIES:

We’re a highly efficient small team... Currently, Scott's Quality Lawn Care employs one Customer Service/Sales Rep. We will be moving this person to primarily a Sales & Business Development role. As the potential new hire you will take over a degree of his customer service and office admin responsibilities. The two of you will comprise our Customer Service & Sales Support front line and share in the joint responsibilities of looking after all our customers.

Ÿ PRIMARY DUTIES --- You will be responding to our customers who phone us, email us, or contact us through social media or request quotes or info through our CRM and website. You’ll be sending out quotes, scheduling services, as well as handling any account or service issues.

Ÿ SECONDARY DUTIES --- There will be considerable data entry within our CRM program, and your other duties will include a variety of office functions such as, but not limited to, sending invoices to customers and handling whatever administrative and support functions are deemed necessary at times.

Ÿ Ideally, we're looking for someone with prior experience on CRM software solutions --- Via our Lawn Care Service Business software, you will be providing customer service and customer relationship management to our 1600+ customers. We expect that to increase by at least 12% to 18% in 2024. This CRM software works very well for our business and helps our office staff stay organized and on top of their duties.

Ÿ Ideally, we’re also preferring someone who has some basic marketing experience and especially, significant social media savvy, as you may be tasked with looking after some of our Facebook page and doing some of our social media marketing in collaboration with our company owners and managers etc. If you understand social media and can produce content for our social media platforms that is a huge plus, and if you have skills in video, photography or other media this would be a major asset to our company and could result in further compensation based on meritorious performance.

MUST-HAVE QUALIFICATIONS:

Ÿ Ideally 2 to 3 years of diverse experience in office-related customer service, office administration, along with some direct-to-customer phone sales experience.

Ÿ Intermediate to advanced computer skills and MS Office Suite or comparable proficiency.

Ÿ Intermediate to advanced email and internet savvy.

Ÿ Intermediate to advanced social media experience with a creative flair for social media content creation.

Ÿ Experience with CRM programs and interactive online collaborations programs.

* Though not mandatory for this position, experience in the Lawn Care industry would be a huge asset. Additional training will also be provided from Day 1.

OTHER MUST-HAVE’S:

Strong work ethic ---

Ÿ You’re passionate about doing your best always, not just what’s adequate to get by with.

Ÿ Passion isn’t something you “put on” for the interview… it has to be who you normally are.

Happy, outgoing demeanor – honest and friendly – always customer service-oriented ---

Ÿ Therefore, you get along very well with any customer type and all co-workers.

Ÿ You’re a consistently up-beat and positive individual… You’re an optimist but also a realist, so therefore, you’re a flexible/adaptable solution-finder.

Dependable ---

Ÿ A perfect attendance record is a MUST.

Confident, and yet humble and teachable ---

Ÿ No matter how much you may already know, you know there are always new things to learn in a dynamic growing business.

Mature, common-sense, and a practical nature ---

Ÿ You’re good at reading people and situations, assessing needs, etc.

Adept at not only identifying problems, but also keen on solving problems ---

Ÿ You’re solutions-oriented, proactively thinking ahead, and seeing the bigger and longer-term picture.

Strong mathematical and reasoning skills ---

Ÿ You’re very good with numbers, details, and especially, accuracy.

Strong relationship building skills ---

Ÿ The undergirding foundation of our business is the maintaining and building of strong lasting relationships – Many of our customers have been with us for many years... they’ve become our friends, not just our customers, or conversely may have been our friends or colleagues before becoming customers –

Ÿ You will be one of our frontlines “ambassadors” and enjoy communicating with customers, vendors, co-workers, and forging these long-lasting relationships.

Strong English communication skills, i.e. verbal/phone/social media and written ---

Ÿ You pay attention to detail, thoroughness and clarity, and are tactful and sensitive as need be.

Able to work well independently as a resourceful, pro-active self-manager, yet a key contributing team member ---

Ÿ This position involves significant interaction/interdependence/communication with your co-workers as well as our customers.

A willing, quick learner of new procedures and systems, adept at following instructions ---

Ÿ With training where needed, you apply yourself well without the need for constant guidance or supervision.

Ÿ You catch on quickly and accurately follow instructions and guidelines.

Excellent multiple task juggler with strong organizational, analytical, and time-management skills – accustomed to “wearing multiple hats” as need be ---

Ÿ You will have core responsibilities, but your role will evolve as the Company grows – you’ll need to be comfortable with that and adaptable to change.

Very good at prioritizing and organizing your own diverse workload amidst Company priorities ---

Ÿ You’ll need to be able to shift gears on a moment’s notice if priorities may momentarily change.

Flexible/patient/accommodating personality ---

Ÿ As you’ll be dealing with all types of customers (many of them elderly), you’ll need to be a very good listener, too.

Accustomed to working under the daily pressures of a dynamic, thriving small business ---

Ÿ During our busy season it can be very busy... but fortunately, it’s not always like that.

Accustomed to working within routine deadlines and achieving goals ---

Ÿ We’re a Company and Team that always strives to exceed our customers’ expectations and to keep on growing our business...

Ÿ We continually push ourselves; we continually set higher targets and we meet those goals.

Content with following and serving ---

Ÿ You’ll need to follow policies, procedures, and instructions to the letter, but with time, if called upon by Management to do so, you’ll be able to take the lead, or manage an assigned task or project.

WORK HOURS:

Ÿ Work hours are subject to change at anytime based on the need of the current season.

Ÿ Normally, you can expect to work most of the year Monday through Thursday from 8 am till 4 pm. This will allow you to enjoy 3 day weekends for much of the year!

Ÿ During our busiest months of Mid April to Mid June, the schedule will be Monday through Friday.

Ÿ Often, you may need to start work by 7 am or 7:30 am to listen to voicemails that were left overnight and/or respond to emails before you get to phone calls at 8 am.

Ÿ Occasionally on some days, if necessary, you may need to stay past 4 pm to catch up.

Ÿ At Scott's Quality Lawn Care we work as a close-knit team so if someone is behind in their workload or it’s during the busier times, we all help each other out as best we can.

Ÿ There will be normal crazy busy times during our brief busy season but there are also apt to be times when you may be on the verge of bored during our much slower winter months. During these times you must be willing to take on other projects and tasks as required.

REMUNERATION:

We are a Company that looks after its people very well. We believe in rewarding our employees for exemplary performance and offer a generous benefit package.

Expected start date: February 14, 2022

Ÿ This is a full-time/contract position, offering a starting wage of $19.50 to $20.50 per hour depending upon experience and skills, as well as a comprehensive health and dental benefits plan after 3 months of full time employment.

Ÿ Additionally, you will be entitled to 1 week of paid vacation (your preferred time is subject to availability and busy vs slow season timing, etc.)

Ÿ We also offer our 4 application Fertilizer/Weed Control package for free, as well as our mowing program at a 50% discount for any employee within our service area who does not have an overly large property. This equates to several hundreds of dollars of value.

TO SUM UP...

Scott's Quality Lawn Care is a growing forward-thinking company with ambitious plans to expand into new markets and grow our customer base, as we have been every year. If you're looking for a great place to build a long-term career, and a great Team to work with in a busy, fast-paced and yet down-to-earth and fun environment, and you believe that you have what it takes to keep up and grow with our Company, then please apply today. This is a great opportunity for the right person.

We’re a different company in that we don’t do weeks of interviews and repeat phone calls to find the right applicants. Our hiring process is a short one. If we call you in for an interview, it means we’ve already done our homework and already checked the references you provided us up front. It means you’re on a very short list and we’re seriously interested.

To facilitate a speedier process, we do require the following to be submitted as your applicationfor this career posting:

1. You must provide us with a cover letter --- Let us know why we should hire you and what sets you apart from the hundreds of others candidates also applying. That will tell us whether we should read your resume or not.

2. Please provide us with your resume or CV.

3. Please include your references upfront, too. We may call them before we bring you in for an interview.

WE THANK ALL APPLICANTS, BUT ONLY THOSE BEING SERIOUSLY CONSIDERED WILL BE PROMPTLY CONTACTED FOR AN INTERVIEW.
