Daycare Cook

Kidz Kare Daycare is a licensed childcare centre in the heart of downtown Toronto. We are conveniently located directly across from Union station (very accessible!) inside of Maple Leaf Square.

If you have experience cooking large wholesome meals, we are looking for you! Think of our kitchen as your grandmother's and help deliver those homecooked recipes with love!

Responsibilities:

• Prepare, cook and serve breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack for the centre's children and staff, while observing any allergies or food restrictions
• Creation of weekly grocery shopping list
• Monthly menu planning
• Manage main kitchen while keeping smaller staff kitchen tidy
• Clean all kitchen appliances and ensure they are maintained and well kept.
• Wash all dishes and utensils
• Portion the meals and snacks correctly by classroom
• Manage time efficiently and prep other meals when possible
• Some baking required --- fruit loafs, cupcakes, etc.

Job Requirements:

• Open-minded and teachable
• Must be driven, creative and organized
• Food Handler Certification
• First aid and CPR training
• WHMIS training
• Immunizations up to date including TB testing and Double Covid Vax.
• Criminal Reference Check
• Previous culinary experience cooking for large groups of people
• Must be able to legally work in Canada --(example: eligible work permit, citizenship or PR --- please note that sponsorship is not offered at this time)

Above & Beyond:*(Individuals who do not have the below items should expect to strive for them as deemed necessary by the organization):

• Culinary training and/or diploma/certification, etc.
• Comfortable behind a computer; Knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Experience in a Licensed Daycare and/or school environment.
• Familiarity with allergies and food restrictions/substitutions

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: $19.00-$22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 44 per week
