JOB TITLE: Deckhand/Maintenance
JOB SUMMARY: Work a variety of roles as a junior member of either the Aurora Explorer crew, a tugboat crew or the onshore maintenance team.
JOB TYPE: Full-time, hourly
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
General Responsibilities
· Maintain a clean and professional appearance.
· Demonstrate professional demeanor, attitude, and cleanliness at all times while in passenger areas.
· Able to stay motivated when working independently or as part of a team.
· Follow all tasks as directed by the vessel Master or Company management.
· Follow all health and safety policies and procedures as instructed.
Deck Duties
· Maintain a watch and assist in all aspects relating to passenger safety, comfort and enjoyment.
· Assist in all cargo handling.
· Assist guests with baggage handling. including transport of luggage to the vessel for distribution to staterooms.
· Make sure passenger decks, deck chairs, all benches and exercise equipment are kept clean and clear of soot at all times using a hose and brush as required.
* Please note, passenger decks and benches should be wiped clean prior to passengers
embarking each week.
· Maintain the cargo deck in an orderly and safe condition.
o Assist in the proper stowage of all dunnage, pike poles, slings, chains, hooks, binders, tarps, tie up lines, fenders, etc.
o Assist in securing vessel tie up, anchoring and mooring.
· Keep oil catchments free of water. (See engineer for more guidance)
· Participate in fire and boat drills as outlined by muster list for the “Deckhand”.
Galley Duties
· Assist the cook and steward when directed to do so by the Master or Mate.
o Assist the cook/steward in with all heavy lifting.
o Check drinking water jug regularly and re-place as necessary.
· Monitor and empty (when necessary) all garbage containers. Generally, garbage should be taken out after Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner each day.
o Stow empty water jugs, wine bottles and pop cans on cargo deck as they are produced
· Monitor cleanliness of all windows and keep clean at all times.
· Be available for washing dishes and provide general clean-up when requested by the Cook/Steward.
Maintenance Duties
· Perform labour tasks as directed by Maintenance Supervisor.
· Use power tools and machinery including, but not limed to, forklifts, power drills, grinders and pressure washers when needed. Ensuring all tools are cleaned and stored properly.
· Assist welders, carpenters, painters or other tradespeople on-site.
· Handle and transport materials and equipment.
· General yard clean up as required.

Salary: From $23.19 per hour
