The City of Swift Current is seeking an individual for the position of Detachment Service Assistant/ Police Clerk for the City Detachment RCMP. This is a permanent full-time position that requires shift work including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Under the direction of the Police Service Detachment Manager, this position will be responsible for performing varied functions that include duties of reception, clerical and secretarial nature. Duties may include general inquiries, accident/incident details, dispatch police radio communication, preparation of legal documents, memorandums, press releases, letters, forms and documents, file maintenance, and other related duties.
Basic Requirements:
Grade 12 and successful completion of a secretarial or office administration program at a community college, technical or vocational school or institute;
Must be able to meet existing RCMP security clearance standards, including fingerprint check;
Must possess or be eligible to become a Commissioner for Oaths;
Must be willing to become Safe Places Aware Certified;
Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures and equipment, and familiarity with computers and windows based applications;
Ability to understand and execute oral and written instructions;
Ability to deal courteously and tactfully with the public;
Strong interpersonal skills and effective communication abilities; and
Maintain a high level of confidentiality.
Desirable Requirements:
Typing/keyboarding skill of 55 words per minute;
Dispatching procedures; and
Clerical experience in a law enforcement agency.
