Lead a team of compliance professionals responsible for Trade Surveillance Model Risk Management as part of the Global Compliance Trade Surveillance program. The incumbent's mandate will include developing and maintaining best in class Data Analytics to support monitoring and diagnostic analysis of models within Trade Surveillance platforms are optimized, model updates are tested in accordance with model risk management policies as well as ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives related to implementation and monitoring of Trade Surveillance models are executed / delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures including the continual expansion of the programs capabilities to strengthen the global program.

Is this role right for you? In this role you will:

  • Lead and mentor the Model Optimization & Data Analytics team who conduct ongoing performance monitoring of the Trade Surveillance models and support model owner responsibilities as per the Bank's Enterprise-Wide Risk Management Policy.
  • Ensure that risk sensitivity data provided to Trade Surveillance platforms is properly modeled and transformed to required Trade Surveillance platform requirements through a complete understanding of market risk sensitivities and underlying risk factors generated by upstream trade capture and risk management systems as well as by partnering with upstream partners to understand all possible impacts to Trade Surveillance platforms due to upstream system upgrades.
  • Lead the execution on various targeted Data Analytics projects including automating tools to enhance productivity in reporting and alert adjudication processes, developing bespoke tactical Trade Surveillance solutions to meet regulatory expectations and creation of Business Intelligence applications using software such as Tableau.
  • Provide regular reporting to relevant stakeholders including reporting on the status of model related issues and validations to senior business and compliance management in a timely manner in accordance with applicable regulations.
  • Provide subject matter expertise for the continual enhancement of the Trade Surveillance model risk management program.
  • Work closely with the Compliance technology and Model Validation teams as well as other stakeholders on Trade Surveillance model implementations and enhancements to maintain a best-in-class Trade Surveillance program.
  • Ensure appropriate and effective Trade Surveillance Model Risk Management procedures and processes are in place and are operating effectively.
  • Represent the Data Analytics & Model Optimization team in interactions with external regulators, Internal Audit, Testing and any other investigative body.
  • Motivate their team by fostering an inclusive work environment; communicating vison/values/business strategy and managing succession and development planning for the team.
  • Support Managing Director in evaluating performance and skills of staff and providing feedback on resource requirements on a regular basis.
  • Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct
  • Champion a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment; communicating vison/values/business strategy and managing succession and development planning for the team.
  • Lead and drive a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • University degree in relevant field.
  • 8-10 years work experience in Banking and/or Capital Markets in a quantitative role that has provided exposure to Over-The-Counter (OTC) Derivatives pricing and curve construction, Market Risk Management / Development (greeks sensitivity analysis, VaR, Stress Testing), Model Risk Management / Model Validation.
  • Significant exposure to order management systems, trade capture processes and trade lifecycle management (cancel and amends, middle office booking procedures)
  • 3-5 years of management experience or leading a team of direct reports.
  • Proficiency in languages such as Python, SQL, C Sharp.
  • Experience in Business Intelligence tools such as Tableau.
  • Strong understanding of various listed and OTC trading products including fixed income cash and derivatives, foreign exchange, equities and index products, commodities, etc.
  • Industry certification or credentials will be an asset (e.g. CFA, FRM)
  • Strong written and verbal business communication skills to provide advice and explanation to various users including senior management that may be unfamiliar with derivative concepts
  • Strong analytical skills and a keen eye for detail.
  • Capability of simultaneously handling multiple tasks and meeting stringent deadlines.
  • Self-motivation, confidence, and capability to work both independently and in a team environment.

Effectively performing this role involves working with and providing guidance to the team to ensure that all tasks are being addressed.

Effectively performing this role involves consulting with the team and others as needed.
  • You will interact with on an ongoing basis with Executive and senior professional staff, generally on time sensitive items. The incumbent is required to respond with tact while ensuring compliance priorities and requirements are met.
  • You are expected to ensure the application of regulatory requirements and policy guidance, provide advice to senior professional staff in the various business units, and identify, investigate and escalate any exception conditions to management. Functions must be performed accurately and reliably as errors or delays can have serious adverse regulatory implications.
  • You will represent the bank and Trade Surveillance in a professional knowledgeable manner when responding to external regulatory requests
  • You will manage internal audit interactions on behalf of the Data Analytics & Model Optimization team
  • You are responsible for assisting the Managing Director, to which he/she reports, in fulfilling the Bank's responsibilities with respect to regulatory compliance.
  • You are team-oriented.
  • You will have frequent contact with senior management of the business lines and\ compliance teams in other jurisdictions, among others.
  • You will demonstrate leadership, patience and perseverance by expressing and defending views and opinions.
  • Strategic influencing is an essential skill for success in this role.
  • You have the ability to develop policies and procedures and provide internal advice that is practical, understandable and reflective of the specific needs of all relevant departments within the organization
