Director, Internal Audit

Home Hardware has an exciting opportunity available for a Director, Internal Audit to join our Corporate Finance team. Reporting to both the CFO and the Audit Committee, you will be responsible for assessing and providing assurance to the Audit and Risk Management Committee (ARMC) as to the sufficiency of Home’s internal control over financial reporting and the control environment, applicable to such other financial or operational risk matters as the ARMC may determine.

What you’ll do:

• Develop and maintain a comprehensive Internal Audit Program for Home Hardware to assess and provide assurance to the Audit and Risk Management Committee (ARMC) as to the sufficiency of the Home’s internal control over financial reporting.
• Present the annual Internal Audit Plan to the ARMC, including with respect to the objectives, scope of activities, budget, and resource requirements necessary to complete the plan.
• Prepare and provide audit reports to the ARMC on a quarterly basis on the results of audits conducted on the period, together with progress made by management in addressing previously identified audit issues, and any other work performed by the Internal Audit function pursuant to the plan.
• Work in partnership with Finance Leaders to design and implement operative procedures to ensure that internal controls are effective, and to eliminate redundant or inefficient procedures where necessary.
• Examine financial statements and financial reports to verify accuracy and completeness.
• Identify and recommend to management and/or the ARMC potential areas of enhancement with respect to Home’s accounting systems and procedures.
• Coordinate scope and coverage with Home Hardware’s external auditors.
• Investigate matters of potential fraud.

What we’re looking for:

• Bachelors’ degree in Accounting, Finance or Business. CPA designation is required.
• Five to ten years’ experience within an Internal Audit/control position, with three years in a leadership capacity.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills as well as professional presentation skills.
• Proven ability to develop and sustain cooperative and effective working relationships with key stakeholders.
• Strong collaboration skills with the ability to establish credibility, to positively impact business performance.
• Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple demands and competing priorities.
• Ability to work independently and adapt to changing business needs.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills.
• Ability to work additional or varied hours as required to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.
