Position Overview:
Reporting to the Vice-President, Marketing, Communications & Development, the Director, Marketing & Communications, leads a team of high performing professionals to execute an integrated marketing-communications strategy that maximizes Ovarian Cancer Canada’s resources and expands reach and impact with the community we serve. The Director, Marketing & Communications is responsible for planning, development, and implementation of all OCC’s marketing strategies, communications, direct response, and public relations activities.

Key Responsibilities:

· Develops, leads, and executes an integrated, comprehensive strategic marketing and communications plan to support the organization’s strategic goals.

· Leads the strategy and generation of engaging digital content for OCC’s website, social media and email channels that lead to measurable action.

· Leads direct response and donor acquisition strategies to drive revenue and grow donor base.

· Uses research, analytics, and metrics to evaluate program impact, success, and inform strategy.

· Evaluates current marketing and communications tools and materials to ensure best practices are employed.

· Serves as primary editor/approver, responsible for effectiveness, and appeal of messaging and content.

· Creates compelling, informative, and audience-centric marketing and communications materials including briefs, key messages, executive speaking notes, presentations, brochures, videos, photo library, advertising copy, and digital and print content.

· Ensures all products, services, and communication materials conform to brand identity.

· Responsible for internal communication programming and messaging.

· Responsible for budget accountability, reporting and monthly forecast and spend accuracy.

Skills, Competencies and Qualifications

· Demonstrated skills, knowledge and experience in the successful development and execution of marketing campaigns, communications, and public relations activities.

· Expertise in all aspects of communications and marketing, the use of video in storytelling, brand consistency, segmentation, analytics, and meaningful measurement.

· Strong creative, strategic, analytical, and organizational skills, with the experience of managing multiple projects at a time.

· Experience overseeing the design and production of online and print collateral and publications.

· Excellent communication skills, writing and editing, oral and interpersonal.

· Experience developing and implementing successful social marketing strategies.

· Proven track record in developing a broad spectrum of proactive media relations campaigns and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively to diverse audiences.

· Experience working with a variety of technology solutions including Raiser’s Edge, Luminate Online and Office 365 or related systems.

· Commitment to working with shared leadership and in cross-functional teams.

· Demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities, proposing new ways of creating efficiencies, and guiding investment in people and systems.

· Flexible and a self-starter. Ability to work well in a dynamic, high-performing team.

· The successful candidate will be required to comply with a police background check as a contingency of hiring.
