BATTLE RIVER SCHOOL DIVISION is seeking applications for the following position:
POSITION TITLE: Director of Facilities
POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for the overall physical operations of Division schools, other division facilities and grounds by ensuring that facilities are safe, up to code and fully operational. This position is also responsible for overseeing and/or directing the delivery of capital construction and renovation projects across the division. This position is responsible to the Secretary-Treasurer
POSITION REQUIREMENTS (QUALIFICATIONS):
- Certified building trades Journeyman Tradesman or Architect Designation
- Five years of relevant experience
- Valid Alberta Class 5 operator’s license
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with teams in a positive way
- Experience and expertise in building trades management and construction project management
- Ability to work effectively with technology
- Flexible and adaptable
- Thoughtful and ethical decision-maker with a long-term vision for success
- Excellent organizational, communication, interpersonal, analytical, and time management skills
- Proven leadership skills and the ability to develop a high-performing team
- The ability to speak French would be considered an asset
GENERAL DUTIES:
- Provide technical guidance, administration and work direction to direct reports.
- Develop and implement a facility operations strategic plan for improvements and modifications covering facilities, equipment and grounds.
- Oversee all construction/modernization projects to ensure that contractual, federal, provincial, and local related codes, standards, and regulations are in compliance.
- Reviews, updates, and ensures all Provincial reports to ensure accurate funding.
- Directs, supervises, and evaluates department staff; ensures staff receives training related to specific job tasks and responsibilities.
- Support the Custodial and Groundskeeping Coordinator.
- Liaise with school administrators on facility concerns.
- Perform regular inspections and provide written reports on the Division's facilities.
- Develop and maintain a preventative maintenance program.
- Provide leadership for the department to ensure quality maintenance of Facilities.
- Assists with three-year Capital Plan, CMR plan, IMR plan, and other government reports as needed.
- Develop budget priorities. Prepare and monitor an annual operating budget and capital projects.'
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Secretary-Treasurer.
