The Director of Facilities and Operations at ECACS is accountable for ensuring that all schools within the division operate in a secure, safe, and efficient physical environment. This role includes overseeing the strategic facility maintenance, transportation, safety programs, and compliance with health and safety regulations specifically designed for the educational sector.
Qualifications
Knowledge and Experience
?A degree in a related field/post-secondary certification is considered an asset.
?Minimum five years of practical experience in maintenance supervision and/or maintenance engineering work.
?Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform in the position.
Key Responsibilities
Facilities Management
?Oversees the maintenance, operation, and improvement of all school division facilities, ensuring they are safe, clean, and conducive to the educational mission of ECACS.
?Develops and implements a strategic plan for facility operations for improvements and modifications covering facilities, equipment, and grounds.
?Reviews, updates, and ensures all Provincial reports to ensure accurate funding.
?Liaises with school administrators on facility concerns.
?Performs regular inspections and provides written reports on the Division's facilities.
?Assists with three-year Capital Plan, CMR plan, IMR plan, and other government reports as needed.
Occupational Health and Safety
?Responsible for safety orientation, safety training, job site inspections, and reporting.
?Provides leadership for developing and directing safety training initiatives for all ECACS.
?Maintains awareness of amendments to the Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA) and Regulations and make recommendations for their implementation.
?Responsible for monitoring adherence to the company safety program by all ECACS employees and subcontractors.
?Coordinates Hour Zero.
Transportation
?Maintains an ongoing preventative maintenance program and semi-annual inspection program on all ECACS buses equipment/vehicles for the department.
?Liaison with the principals of all schools concerning transportation.
?Liaison with the Superintendent regarding the cancellation of bus service during inclement weather
?Arranges for transportation services for eligible students who cannot be served through regular school bus operations.
?Ensures school bus operations are in accordance with all relevant laws, regulations, rules, policies, and administrative procedures.
?Communicates and collaborates with school principals regarding transportation during inclement weather.
?Works cooperatively with schools to ensure coordination of bus services and communicates with school administration to promote student safety and well-being.
