Purpose:

Scotiabank, a leading global financial institution committed to empowering its customers and communities, is currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Director of HR Solutions and Business Value to lead the synthesis of HR strategies from various business units and functions, focusing on agility, human-centered design, and data-driven decision-making. In this role, you will play a crucial part in shaping the future of HR within our bank while bringing these methodologies and solutions to Canadian Banking.

Key Accountabilities:

As the Director ofHR Solutions & Business Value, you will oversee multiple facets of HR strategy, business transformation, and innovation. Your responsibilities include:

Canadian Banking Integration:

  • Partner closely with and act as a trusted advisor to the Group Head, HRVP and broader executive team within Canadian Banking.
  • Enable multiple HR priorities in Canadian Banking, such as talent and succession planning, employee listening, and year-end activities, to meet targets and deadlines.
  • Define problems and champion a user-centric approach to develop and implement innovative HR solutions in a team-based setting.
  • Use data to identify patterns and trends, measure the impact of HR solutions, and make data-driven recommendations to enhance Business Value.

HR Strategy & Portfolio Management:

  • Synthesizing Business / Functional HR strategies, ensuring alignment horizontally across the Enterprise using a common format.
  • Identifying strategic themes and patterns to prioritize, build and solve a portfolio of work collaboratively in a lab environment.
  • Portfolio manage using agility, design, and data methods, including roadmap development, OKRs, progress monitoring, product demos, retrospectives, and stakeholder alignment.
  • Identify synergies across cyclical activities to ensure a consistent execution of people priorities and strategic HR programs.
  • Drive messaging and branding, internal stakeholder relations, campaigns, and quality around products and materials.
  • Oversee communications, and events for the global HRBP group, ensuring that teams have clarity on our strategy and the work underway.


Agile Transformation:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and implement effective ways of working within our global HRBP group to help drive Business Value.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive roadmap to build team capability and enhance HR solutions using a 'build once use many' mindset to foster agility, learning, and speed.
  • Lead a Ways of Working community of practice across the global HRBP group, promoting iterative and collaborative approaches to problem-solving, decision-making, and OKRs.
  • Champion human-centered design principles to enable co-creation of innovative solutions that meet the evolving needs of the businesses and Scotiabank as a whole.
  • Optimize the use of technology and data, including generative AI, to enable and accelerate ways of working and HR solutions.

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Lead a team of 2 direct reports, coach, and mentor others, fostering a culture of continuous learning, growth, and inclusivity to support individual and team development.
  • Nurture a high-performance environment and implement a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops, and motivates the team.

Experience / Education:

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in management consulting, strategy, HR and / or corporate communications.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with teams and stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to convey complex concepts in a clear and simple manner.
  • Strong portfolio management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives concurrently ranging from tactical to strategic.
  • Demonstrated expertise in human-centered design methodologies, including user research, prototyping, and testing.
  • Proven track record in implementing agile methodologies, driving cultural change, and delivering measurable results.
  • Proficiency in leveraging data and analytics to drive strategy and decision-making with curiosity to research and apply the use of generative AI.
  • Highly resourceful with the ability to optimize effort, time, and outcomes to deliver high impact results.
