Director HR Strategic Planning

Job Summary

Equinix is experiencing unprecedented growth, transforming its culture, and operating norms and HR is evolving into an agile product-oriented organization with a focus on employee experience. We are seeking an experienced HR Strategic Planning Director to join our team at Equinix. This role is ideal for someone who is a builder, wants to help shape the future, and is willing to be vulnerable in recognizing that our progress will not be linear.

Reporting to the VP of HR Strategy, this role will build and lead a small, diverse, and inclusive team. The Director of HR Strategic Planning is responsible for leading and overseeing the development and execution of HR strategy, as well as driving operational excellence within the HR function. This role requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and successful implementation of HR priorities. Responsibilities

  • Institute operational rhythm for HR Governance reviews: Establish and maintain a structured process for conducting HR Governance reviews, including portfolio reviews, stage gate reviews, Product Catalog performance, Leadership reviews, and operating meetings

  • Facilitate HR's agile portfolio management processes: Lead the facilitation of prioritization decisions within the HR leadership team (HRLT), ensuring alignment with business objectives and strategic priorities

  • Evolve HR's operating meeting structure: Improve cross-functional alignment by developing and enhancing the structure and effectiveness of HR's operating meetings

  • Develop framework for prioritizing work: Create a framework to prioritize HR initiatives based on the value they deliver to the organization, ensuring that HR focuses on the most critical areas

  • Collaborate with Enterprise Transformation Office: Work closely with the Enterprise Transformation Office to leverage enterprise tools, templates, and frameworks, and share best practices across the HR function

  • Partner with HR practice leaders: Collaborate with HR practice leaders to develop and execute short and long-term HR strategies, aligning them with the overall business strategy

  • Manage HR product review process: Oversee the HR product review process and provide inputs into the development of the People Strategy, ensuring alignment with business needs and objectives

  • Oversee HR budget: Take ownership of the HR budget, tracking performance and providing insights to help make strategic decisions on resource allocation throughout the year

  • Establish and steward HR's Program and Project Management methodologies: Develop and maintain methodologies, tools, and templates for program and project management within the HR function

  • Track agile portfolio performance: Monitor and report on the overall performance of HR's agile portfolio, ensuring transparency and accountability

  • Stay informed on internal talent trends: Maintain a view on internal talent trends, such as organizational changes, attrition rates, employee satisfaction scores, etc., and provide insights to inform HR strategies

  • Research external talent and business trends: Stay updated on external talent and business trends that may impact HR's current and long-term strategy, and help shape the development and execution of the people strategy

  • Build and lead a diverse and inclusive team: Recruit, develop, and lead a small team, fostering a culture of diversity and inclusion

  • Serve as a bridging tie across HR Strategy team: Collaborate with Strategic Program Managers, Employee Listening, and Workforce Insights teams to ensure coordination and alignment in HR strategy execution

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience leading in HR Executive, Strategy, PMO or consulting engagements

  • Progressive experience in HR Strategic Planning, program management, and project management

  • Experience leading and operating governance mechanisms in an organization using agile methodologies with a product mindset

  • Strong understanding of agile methodologies and portfolio management, including experience with SAFe preferred

  • Proven track record of successfully leading and executing HR strategies and initiatives

  • Experience managing budgets and making cost-benefit trade-offs

  • Experience managing functional portfolio with tools such as Jira is preferred

  • Excellent leadership and team management skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to collaborate and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization

  • Knowledge of HR best practices and industry trends

  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and changing environment

The United States targeted pay range for this position in the following location is / locations are:

  • San Francisco, CA / Bay Area: $179,000 to $304,000 per year

  • California (Non-SF/Bay Area), Connecticut, Maryland, New York, New Jersey, Washington state: $172,000 to $293,000 per year

  • Colorado, Nevada, Rhode Island: $159,000 to $271,000 per year


Our pay ranges reflect the minimum and maximum target for new hire pay for the full-time position determined by role, level, and location. Individual pay is based on additional factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and/or training.
This position may be offered in other locations. Your recruiter can share more about the specific pay range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
The targeted pay range listed reflects the base pay only and does not include bonus, equity, or benefits. Employees are eligible for bonus, and equity may be offered depending on the position.
