This role is Hybrid (2-3 days per week in office @ First Canadian Place site)

About the role:

Leads the stabilization and further maturity of the Wealth Delivery Office, while contributing to the broader Digital First mandate across Wealth Management. A strong leader that is comfortable with change, solving complex problems, and will straddle both business and technology in relation to execution & delivery.

Contributes to not only strengthen our capabilities as it pertains to the Wealth Delivery Office - Agile Coaching, Scrum Masters, Delivery Excellence, Data & Reporting, Talent Management /Sourcing Strategy, Waterfall and Agile delivery and SDLC practices but also advocates and champions for winning culture and behaviour across Wealth Management.

Provides recommendations to senior executives to assist them in driving strategic priorities while ensuring that the needs of the organization are being achieved, by incorporating a digital first mindset, being client or advisor centric with a strong focus on agility and automation.

Puts in place benchmarking and roadmaps, so that the maturity of the Wealth Delivery Office capabilities are documented, with a measurable target state in mind as it relates to the maturity roadmap

Works with business & technology leaders to shift to agile ways of working that is business driven, and stand-up delivery teams that are cross-functional in nature, with a strong focus on being data driven and leading delivery excellence that in return leads to strong business benefits.

Works with Technology leaders to ensure we are digital ready as it pertains to automation (DevOps & QA), resiliency and performance (pre go-live)

Leads a portfolio with multiple, large, business specific projects / programs by LoB, to enable the business to achieve their strategic objectives and priorities. These projects/programs are often highly complex and large-scale in nature, spanning multiple functions and lines of business and/or segments.

Places a strong focus on behaviour change and adoption of change related to change management among LoB/Tech leaders as the Wealth Delivery Office continues to stabilize and solidify

Focusses on strong stakeholder management across Wealth Management and the broader BMO organization, by cultivating strong operational and strategic relationships that result in accelerating opportunities where business and/or projects/programs need a structured facilitation and initiation process to advance work and contribution.

Partners with the Wealth Digital First team as they forge forward with their mandate across Wealth and specifically the Business Value Office which has a solid focus on Portfolio Management, TIP Financial Management and EC reporting, Risk and Compliance

Oversees talent management for the team, with regular 1:1's/team meetings, development plans in place with a strong focus on employee engagement and employee satisfaction YoY winning culture)

Leads the sourcing strategy and partner relationships for the agile Delivery Office and ensure we are augmenting the team with target talent and workforce of the future

What will you do:

  • Focus on the stability and further optimization and maturity of the Wealth Delivery Office with maturity roadmaps in place and quarterly targets, by performing periodic reviews, analyzing program outcomes, providing insights, and making recommendations for enhancements / changes
  • Instills an agile first mindset with their respective team, works with business leaders to ensure their planning and solution delivery accounts for this and comes to life through leveraging agile ways of working when and where possible
  • Stays aligned with Business Value Office leaders, with a line of sight into LoB prioritized investment plan submissions and business cases aligned with our digital first mandate, tracking the initiative results against commitments and forecasted business benefits.
  • Oversees the execution of initiatives from inception through implementation to achieve established change initiative objectives and benefits, ensuring input and advice are obtained from all impacted areas and stakeholders as required and applying delivery excellence best practices and ensuring appropriate change management standards for large, complex strategic change.
  • Works with Delivery Managers, ensures regular program and key governance forums are facilitated (e.g. Steering Committees, Tollgates) to review progress with key stakeholders. Coaches/advises accountable executives and steering committees on appropriate courses of action - options & recommendations.
  • Will be responsible for all Project Management and PM practices related audits for Wealth Management Tech and compliance needs working closely with BVO.
  • Continuously foster & grow a community of practice and ensure consistent and continuous upscaling of talent, with strong talent pipelines in place focusing on target state skills and capabilities
  • Develops and provides recommendations to drive consistent quality delivery and change management methodologies, also measuring productivity of delivery teams to ensure delivery excellence
  • Leads the sustainment and evolution of a culture of collaboration that eliminates internal silos, forges continuous, strong relationships with Technology, Wealth Businesses, Wealth Digital First, Agile CoE, Risk, Audit, Compliance and ensures seamless execution as one company for all change initiatives
  • Sustains a culture that focuses on great customer experience and optimal employee experience. A culture of performance and One Bank/One Team approach that instills an environment of trust and shared success with the collective team
  • Leads the establishment of a two-way working relationship with direct reports and their employees to solicit their views on the working environment, potential changes affecting their work, continuous improvement opportunities, and revisions to the plan.
  • Builds and sustains a team of direct reports who are capable of delivering the performance required for the group, including coaching and the creation and implementation of training and development plans that elevate employee effectiveness, build and sustain high performance.

What you need to succeed:

  • 10+ years of relevant Technology Leadership experience and/or post-secondary degree or diploma in related field of study
  • Strong experience with business/tech transformation, business/technology strategy, technology delivery, supporting delivery roles (CoEs, EPMO) etc
  • Experience straddles both business and technology within the FI industry (Wealth Management, Capital Markets, Banking in general)
  • A technical leader with extensive agile and waterfall delivery experience, moving from waterfall to agile experience - Agile/PMI/SAFE certified (people/process/tools/artifacts/data)
  • Brings different tools and diversity of thought, to solve complex problems - including (but not exclusive to) Six Sigma, Lean, Human Centered Design, Change Management, Critical Thinking, Analytics, Design Thinking etc.
  • Proven track record in leading delivery in a complex organization at scale, multi million-dollar portfolio's
  • Proven track record creating & leading high performing teams overseeing delivery or CoE's through change
  • Strong Change Management experience through Delivery and track record facilitating Change processes successfully
  • Comfortable with ambiguity, able to innovate and ideate
  • Proven influence, negotiation, problem solving and analytical/critical thinking skills
  • Lead multiple teams on various initiatives/with different mandates to drive the desired outcomes
  • Disciplined execution - ability to manage within a constantly changing environment and ability to process multiple information sources
  • Prior experience engaging with executives - strategies, status reports/dashboards, recommendations etc
  • Excellent relationship management skills required for internal, client and vendor management
  • Data driven, making informed decisions (tools - JIRA, confluence, Jenkins etc)
