Who we are

Take a Hike Market (TAHM) is Canada’s newest culinary playground, at home in the Rocky Mountains of Canmore Alberta. Our greatest pleasure is to bring people together, to explore Canada’s diverse agricultural and artisanal bounty, and bring it to the table in creative ways. What you’ll be doing

In this position, under the direction of the Executive Chef and Team of Sous Chefs, your primary responsibilities will be to look after some forms of TAHM’s janitorial and supportive kitchen tasks to ensure that the kitchen and dining areas are clean and prepared for our guests. Our ideal candidate is a hard-working individual who enjoys engaging with others and thrives in a Team atmosphere that empowers confidence and comradery in the workplace.

Your duties will include bussing tables, washing dishes and appliances, emptying trash receptacles, scrubbing floors, restocking items, and performing other tasks such as unloading delivery trucks, and helping to prepare cook stations. You should have excellent communication skills, an understanding of several cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and processes as well as have the ability to work independently.

You will be responsible for

• Having a positive attitude and excellent time management skills. Being able to prioritize tasks in a busy setting and adhere to all food safety regulations and procedures.
• Ensuring the availability of clean dishes by bussing tables and keeping workstations free from excess kitchenware.
• Preparing workstations and kitchen for next shift by cleaning and restocking kitchenware and supplies.
• Cleaning machines and appliances used in the kitchen, such as coffee makers, pots, and pans, mixers, etc.
• Assisting with unloading and storing deliveries.
• Sweeping and mopping floors, especially in the event that items are broken or spilled.
• Taking out the trash and rinsing garbage cans.
• Supporting our Culinary Team with various tasks as requested.
• Reporting kitchen accidents or violations of food safety codes and procedures.
• Reporting signs of damaged or outdated ingredients or supplies.
• Showing a willingness to take initiative and make decisions within TAHM’s established guidelines.
• Adhering to our values and guidelines to encourage a positive employee experience and measurability of inventory and cost controls.
• Willingly engaging in any task that is required or asked of you. Being a Team member at TAHM comes with a “can do” attitude, being present and willing to support our Team in any situation is a paramount quality for all our employees.

What we need from you

• A long-term commitment to grow and develop with TAHM.
• A willingness to participate in a full-time or part-time permanent contract as part of a dynamic and collaborative Team.
• Ability to work within a flexible work arrangement including early mornings, evenings and/or weekends, stand or walk for 8-hour shifts and lift at least 50 pounds.
• A willingness to comply with all food safety procedures.
• Be a resident of the Bow Valley at time of application, this is a prerequisite for consideration of your application.

Salary: $18.50 per hour

• 8 hour shift
• Day shift
• Morning shift
• Night shift
• Weekends as needed
