IATSE 891 is a labour organization representing over 10,400 professional artists and technicians working in nineteen (19) different departments in the British Columbia and Yukon film industry. The skills, professionalism and world class reputation of IATSE 891’s members attract film and television producers from across the globe.
We are seeking two Temporary Dispatchers to join our team. Position 1 is for our day shift and Position 2 is for our evening shift
Position 1: Day Shift will be from Monday - Friday, 7:00 am - 3:00 pm (Day Shift)
Position 2: Evening Shift will be from Sunday to Thursday (Evening Shift). Scheduled work week will be Monday to Thursday is from 2:30 pm to 10:30 pm, and Sunday is from 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm.
Primary Function:
Reporting to the Senior Manager of Administration and Finance and up to the President, in collaboration with the Senior Steward, the successful candidate will work as an IATSE 891 Dispatcher supporting film and television productions throughout British Columbia. Please note this is not a traditional dispatcher position; it involves dispatching members and permittees to production work sites.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Dispatches workers to various productions using the IATSE 891 database and phone systems.
- Enters Dispatch call details and worker availability in the IATSE 891 database.
- Responds to a variety of Dispatch-related inquiries via phone and email.
- Sends worker availability lists to production offices.
- Research production call sheet information.
- Saves and validates deal memos in the IATSE Local 891 database.
- May conduct Call Sheet research to support the Senior Steward’s office.
- Files Dispatch-related production information to the appropriate shared network drive location.
Qualifications:
- Minimum grade 12 education.
- Minimum two years of call center, customer service, or dispatcher experience.
- Attentive to details.
- Able to work quickly, multi-task and problem-solve in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrates diplomacy, confidentiality, and sound judgment.
- Polite and professional written and verbal communication skills.
- Works well within a team environment as well as independently.
- Able to prioritize and organize workflow.
- Industry knowledge is an asset.
