Corrosion Service Company Limited (CSCL) was founded in 1950 by Thomas R.B. Watson as the first Canadian firm to specialize in cathodic protection and corrosion engineering. GENERAL FUNCTION:

The Documentation Specialist works with process owners, document owners, and originators to deliver documentation essential by the organization to meet internal, customer, and legal/regulatory requirements. The Documentation Specialist ensures that controls are in place to manage documents through their lifecycle from initial drafting to publication to obsoletion.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Content administrator (SME) of the document management system
  • Responsible for the control of documents and associated records for internal, customer, and supplier documentation
  • Maintain documentation practices to ensure the effective planning, operation, and control of the organization’s quality management system (QMS) processes in line with its objectives
  • Collaborate with process owners, document owners, and originators to develop and maintain document content, adhering to a standardized format, design layouts, and style guidelines
  • Review submitted documents for accuracy and completeness before publication into the QMS
  • Produce technical writing (content creation), where requested by the manager
  • Research, evaluate, and recommend new documentation tools, styles, methods, and solutions
  • Develop and deliver associated training
  • Participate in improvement initiatives, as assigned by the manager
  • Other tasks and responsibilities, as assigned by the manager

QUALIFICATIONS:

This role requires a team player with good organization, time management, interpersonal, and presentation skills.

The Documentation Specialist will have a genuine customer focus, a strong work ethic, an eye for detail, and a high level of workmanship.

  • College Diploma in a related field
  • 3+ years of proven work experience in a similar role
  • Computer (Windows) literate in O365/MS Office applications, including Visio and SharePoint, as well as Adobe Acrobat
  • Working knowledge of databases and electronic document management systems (including content and records)
  • Knowledge of a quality management system, quality tools, and document management methodologies
  • Proficient in technical writing and process mapping with the ability to produce such in various output formats for technical and non-technical audiences
  • Competency and confidence to train/coach others
  • Exceptional English written and communication skills
  • Fluency in French would be a strong asset
  • Demonstrable collaborative approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement
