ECE or ECEA

Nelson Community Preschool is looking for an ECE, ECEA or Responsible Adult to support our faith based preschool program in Nelson, BC. This is a part time position with flexible day time hours and competitive compensation. This position has potential to build to full time employment. The successful applicant would support the lead ECE in operating and running the preschool programs.

Preschool description: Nelson Community Preschool is a licensed group care learning program. The program offers preschool care in the morning (8:40am-11:40am and all day care 8:40am-3:15pm) The Centre welcomes children 30 months to 5 years. This is a faith based program, weaving in prayer and faith based learning.

Qualifications: ECE certificate or diploma, ECE Assistant certificate or Responsible Adult Requirements.

Successful candidates must have proof of or be willing to obtain:

• Valid ECE Certificate, ECE Assistant or Responsible Adult Training. (copies of any diploma/certificate/training are required).
• Clear criminal record check
• 2 Character references
• Valid First Aid and CPR certificate

Job Skills:

• Develop and implement child‐care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, social, and imaginative development of children
• Lead and guide activities and provide opportunities for children to express creativity through art, dramatic play, music, sensory activities and physical movement
• Provide guidance and sensitivity towards children with diverse needs, including toileting and challenging behaviors
• Respect individual family needs, choices, and confidentiality while communicating with parents, guardians or other staff members
• Assess the abilities, interests and needs of children and use this knowledge to adapt programming and the environment for greater success
• Work collaboratively with coworkers, parents and community supports
• Maintain an environment that protects the health, security and wellbeing of children
