Position: Ecological Restoration and Landscaping Technician (General Labour / Crew Member)

Job Summary:
Helping Nature Heal Inc. is seeking Ecological Restoration Technicians who live in the Bridgewater area or are willing to relocate. The successful candidate will work on new and existing projects on the South Shore of Nova Scotia as well as projects that may require travel as far as P.E.I, New Brunswick and Cape Breton. They must be familiar with, or willing to learn, and consistently implement HNH’s unique methods, while being led by their Foreperson.
Responsibilities:
- Arrive at work prepared, on time and with all personal equipment in good working order
- Maintain efficiency & a high quality of work in various weather conditions
- Operate a variety of landscaping equipment in a safe manner including chipper, whipper snippers, hedge trimmers etc. as well as standard hand tools
- Plant and maintain residential, institutional, and commercial gardens
- Adhere to Health and Safety policies and promote a safe working environment
- Communicate with and support team members to get the job done
- Take direction from the Foreperson and Project Manager and make needed changes in a timely manner
-Share the responsibility of driving to jobsites
Skills and Qualifications:
- Proficient at landscape construction techniques and practices
- Awareness of climate change, and natural/ nature-based solutions
- Excellent communicator who is capable of receiving, and executing instructions
- Ability to perform multiple job tasks efficiently while maintaining quality
- Dependable worker with initiative and motivation
- Capacity to learn quickly and retain information in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work respectfully with a team while maintaining a positive attitude
- Physically fit, energetic, able to lift at least 50 lbs, and able to work in diverse weather conditions
- Flexible schedule, with an ability to travel 1-4 days away at a time
- Use of cellphones only on designated breaks
Assets
- First aid and WHIMIS training
- Drivers licence with clean drivers abstract
- Chainsaw safety course
- Education in a related field (NRET, Agriculture, Horticulture, Landscaping)
- Life skills and knowledge of Maritime/Acadian forest landscapes and environments

Location:
Our home base is in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia and we work throughout the Maritimes (P.E.I, NB, NS)
Hours: 8-12 hrs/day for 5 days a week, averaging 35-60 hours per week depending on schedule and weather.
Compensation:
Pay begins at $18.00-$20.00/hour based on skill and experience.
1 month probation period.
Wage increase and further training options will become available based on performance.
