Job Summary

The Housing Targets Branch is responsible for administering the Housing Supply Act. The new program area provides Provincial leadership contributing to increased housing supply and expanded diversity of housing options to meet BC's current and forecasted housing demand. The Branch works closely with municipalities to support the delivery of new and diverse housing supply, from social and subsidized housing to rental housing and home ownership.
The Economist designs and implements complex statistical analysis and economic modelling projects, and advises senior executives on matters directly impacting goals, objectives, and financial commitments of a ministry or Government.
Job Requirements:
  • Master's Degree or higher in Economics or a specialized field of economics (e.g., Economic Development, Financial Economics, International Economics) or a related field (e.g., Statistics, Mathematics).
  • Minimum two (2) years experience in the design and implementation of statistical analysis and economic modelling projects.

Preference may be given to applicants with:
  • Minimum one (1) year experience with stakeholder/partner engagement and/or consultation.
  • Minimum one (1) year experience with land economics, land use planning and/or real estate development.
  • Minimum one (1) year experience working with statistical software language (i.e. R, Python).

This position can be based out of any of the locations listed above.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work from home a few days a week subject to an approved telework agreement.
