About Mount Milligan Mine
Located approximately 155 kilometres northwest of Prince George in central BC, the Mount Milligan Mine is a conventional truck-shovel open-pit copper and gold mine and concentrator with a 60,000 tpd capacity copper flotation processing plant.
Mount Milligan operates with comfortable camp accommodations equipped with private washrooms, TV, Wi-Fi, an onsite gym, and other recreational activities. Bus transportation to and from site is provided free of charge from several locations within the region.
Mount Milligan promotes a drug and alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a zero-tolerance policy with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs on site.
About the Opportunity
We have an opportunity for a full-time Electrical Engineer to join our Mount Milligan Mine Mill Maintenance team.
This is a camp-based position, with a rotation of 7 days on / 7 days or 14 days on / 14 days off, with a 12-hour daily schedule.
The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for providing support to enhance the effectiveness of the mill operations and maintenance teams at the Mt Milligan mine.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Developing, maintaining, and improving the Mill preventative maintenance tasks and management processes
- Optimizing Preventative and Predictive practices to prevent reoccurring failures
- Leading root cause failure investigation
- Leading cross-functional teams including engineering, maintenance, and operations to support continuous improvement initiatives
- Leading the use of Reliability Centered Maintenance and other improvement processes to improve the performance of assets
- Liaising with BC Hydro in relation to monthly billing and demand
- Initiating, preparing, and executing power system-related projects as well as power efficiency improvements
About You
To qualify, you must be a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering and 2+ years experience in the Processing Plant of a mining operation.
The following skills and experiences will be critical to successfully performing this role:
- Experience with preventative maintenance and condition monitoring of high-voltage and medium-voltage electrical systems
- Experience with Delta V DCS System
- Demonstrated track record of effective project coordination and decision-making
- A valid Canadian driver’s license and clean driving record
- Knowledge of BC Hydro Energy management and rate structures
- Knowledge of PI Data Historian
The ideal candidate will also be a detail and results-oriented team player with strong communication and leadership skills.
