GardaWorld is the largest provider of aviation services for the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA), offering screening services in 28 airports across Canada.

We are currently recruiting an Employee Relations Advisor for the Winnipeg International Airport on a permanent full-time basis.

The successful candidate will carry out work on Employee Relations programs and policies related to the Prairies Region Screening Operations for both unionized and exempt employees. The position will report directly the Regional Manager, Human Resources and work as part of the Human Resource department.

What you will do:
  • Roll out the induction e-learning package to new starters and coordinating virtual/classroom training and induction meetings with stakeholder
  • Administer the probation process to ensure compliance with stakeholders and managers
  • Ensure the HR and Performance Databases accurately reflects current staff conditions, and details. This includes inputting starters and leavers, contractual amendments, change of details, annual leave, recording of sicknesses and other leaves.
  • Manage and deliver the Performance Partnership Program for employees and ensure file compliance
  • Coach and provides expertise to Managers in all areas related to performance and attendance management and provide recommendations on any discipline required
  • Provide appropriate reports from the HR database for the purpose of auditing and monitoring employee data, as it relates to workforce availability.
  • Provide day to day advice to Line Managers and Employees on attendance related queries, requests and Human Resources Policies and Procedures.
  • Hold investigative meetings with individuals, to ascertain reasons relating to low attendance, including late arrivals and early departures. Take the appropriate steps, aligned with policy and programs, to improve overall attendance of individuals not meeting minimal requirements.
  • Review and manage non-culpable absenteeism, ensuring compliance with Human Rights and Federal legislation.
  • Identifying and reporting on KPI trends relating to absenteeism on a monthly and quarterly basis.
  • Proactive strategy development on reducing overarching absenteeism. Providing guidance and recommendation to stakeholders related to absenteeism.
  • Data management: Monitoring daily absences and late arrivals. Develop and maintain reports, pertaining to workforce absenteeism and lates. Reports will highlight any trends, patterns, and forecasts, as it relates to workforce efficiencies.
What you bring:
  • A minimum of 1 to 3+ years of experience as a HR Advisor or equivalent
  • Post secondary education in HR or related field
  • Experience with Employee Relations in a unionized environment
  • Excellent communication skills, verbally and written in English
  • Proven ability to be highly organized in fast paced and deadline-oriented work environment
  • Exceptional skills in collaboration, relationship management, judgement, attention to detail, research and problem solving
  • Able to evidence experience of attending discipline and fair treatment meetings
  • Proficient knowledge of employment and Human Rights legislations
  • Intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Demonstrated ability in development of programs and training
  • Ability to travel (occasional)
  • Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Able to clear advanced security clearances
