Reporting to the Sr. Lead, Water Resources, the Energy Coordinator, Water Resources, will be responsible for assisting with efficient management of site Water Resources at Highland Valley Copper. The successful candidate will work as part of a team to implement Teck’s Water Governance for an extensive water management network servicing operating and legacy tailings facilities, water supply dams, and water supply infrastructure.
To be successful in this role, we are looking for someone with outstanding problem solving, interpersonal, and communication skills; a motivated self-starter, who can remain organized and prioritize contending demands in a fast-paced team environment.
Responsibilities:
-Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
-Data capture and analysis – data mining from the data historian for water flow balancing, and water pumping energy efficiency.
-Identification and implementation of initiatives and projects to better understand, meter and reduce water and energy consumption at HVC
-Collaboration with Water Resources, Maintenance, Operations, and Site Engineering stakeholders
-Case development including resource plans leveraging of BC Hydro funding opportunities
-Preparation of cases to gain project endorsement
-Measurement and monitoring plans to verify energy savings
-Presentations that support safety and energy engagement programs
-Energy and KPI baselining and reporting
-Internal and external energy program reporting
-Decarbonization projects in other areas of our energy portfolio – diesel equipment, natural gas, explosives
-General duties as assigned
Qualifications:
-Degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Studies, Earth Sciences (Biology, Geography, Geology, Forestry, Agriculture), or Natural Resource field
-Minimum five years of experience in industrial process and in the operation, maintenance and management of electrical and/or water systems
-Registered Professional Engineer or Registered Engineering Technologist or Certified Energy Manager (CEM)
-Familiarity and knowledge of energy efficient technologies
-Demonstrated interest and enthusiasm related to energy efficiency.
-Valid Class 5 driver’s license, with the ability to safely operate different equipment
-Ability to work efficiently with nominal supervision and work independently in outdoor remote locations

Salary Range: $91,500 - $113,000
The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
