Job description

Position Summary

The proposal engineer is responsible for providing timely and accurate proposals, reviewing, and commenting on customer specifications, ensuring proper technical and commercial reviews are completed and being responsive to all other client requests to increase Chamco’s win ratio for proposals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide support to the sales team for industrial systems sold by the Packaging division for all product categories excluding complex and high value projects as determined by management.
  • Prepare and submit timely and accurate proposals in accordance with customer RFQ’s and inquiries.
  • Ensure that proposals and clarifications are completed according to company published lead times and ensure that the customer is agreeable to the response time achievable.
  • Ensure that cost estimates are accurate, provide excellent value to the customer and provide Chamco with a competitive advantage to win the sale.
  • Follow established engineering practices and procedures to provide technically accurate information/documents to customers.
  • Liaise with customers for the purpose of selling Chamco’s technical expertise and to further build on Chamco’s reputation as a knowledge-based company that provides technically superior, high-quality equipment.
  • Prepare complete and comprehensive turn-over packages to the Projects department.
  • Work collaboratively with the sales team, Projects group and your own team members.
  • Adhere to the ISO 9001:2015 quality management systems and actively participate in the quality improvement process and Chamco policymanual rules and regulations.

Qualifications Required

The successful candidate for this role will have some combination of the following qualifications:

  • A strong technical background with experience in rotating equipment
  • Professional Engineer either with their designation or working towards their designation with 2-4 years working experience.
  • The ability to be creative in providing a solution to our customers challenges.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Strong working knowledge of applicable ASME codes, and standards and NFPA codes and standards.
  • Ability to lead technical discussion and provide support and training
  • Ability to multi-task with minimal supervision
  • Working knowledge of the packaging business is an asset
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Strong computer skills
  • A strong customer focus
  • An ability to be a “team” player

  • Proposal Engineering/Inside Sales: 5 years (preferred)

Licence/Certification:
