Your mission
The Environmental Engineer or Specialist will be instrumental in ensuring our Unbleached Kraft Pulp mill adheres to strict environmental regulations, adopting green technologies, and minimizing our ecological footprint. This role requires expertise in Environmental Engineering principles, a comprehensive understanding of applicable laws, and a passion for advancing environmental stewardship within our operations.
Responsibilities:

- Monitor compliance with local, provincial, and federal environmental regulations, including those related to air and water quality standards.
- Conduct routine environmental audits and impact assessments.
- Develop and execute strategies to eliminate waste.
- Maintain and optimize environmental control equipment, such as emission control systems and wastewater treatment plants.
- Identify areas for process improvements that reduce environmental impact.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret environmental data to measure and enhance environmental performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement environmentally responsible programs and initiatives.
- Stay informed about industry best practices and emerging environmental technologies.
- Provide training and awareness programs to plant personnel to ensure they understand and follow environmentally responsible practices.
- Foster a culture of environmental responsibility and sustainability throughout the organization.
Your profile

- Thorough knowledge of Alberta's environmental regulations, including the Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act (EPEA).
- Proficiency in environmental management systems and reporting tools.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and project management skills.
- Strong analytical abilities, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
- A genuine commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainability
Education and /or Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Professional certification (e.g., P.Eng, EP) or progress towards completion
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience in Environmental Engineering or a similar role, preferably in the pulp and paper industry.
