Position Overview: ASI Group Ltd. is seeking Field Technicians (multiple positions available) to join our Biofouling Services Group for the upcoming busy season. These are contract positions starting full-time on May 6th and concluding on November 30, 2024, with potential for extension. Special arrangements for training may be available for spring graduates, and this fixed-term contract role may lead to a permanent position with benefits.
Job Type / Category: This role requires candidates who can adapt to a client-focused working schedule and deliver thorough and detailed results even under demanding conditions. All new hires will undergo extensive training to ensure a safe work environment. Field Technicians can expect frequent out-of-town travel throughout Ontario for several days at a time, with the possibility of occasional work in the United States. Meals and accommodations will be provided.
Responsibilities:
- Represent the company professionally
- Maintain regular communication with Supervisor or Project Manager
- Adhere to safety legislation and site standards
- Load, secure, and transport equipment safely
- Collect, analyze, and report samples within deadlines
- Handle, transfer, and transport chemicals (certified under TDG)
- Perform basic equipment adjustments, repairs, monitoring, and maintenance
- Operate tools, machinery, and troubleshoot processes and equipment
- Maintain a safe, organized, and clean work environment
Required Education, Skills, and Qualifications:
- College diploma or certificate in relevant fields (e.g., Environmental Technician, Instrumentation and Control; Biology; Water and Wastewater Operations)
- Minimum one year of related work experience
- Familiarity with industrial and/or laboratory settings
- Proficiency in mathematical calculations and data interpretation
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively for extended periods
- Strong prioritization and deadline management skills
- Attention to detail and accurate record-keeping
- Quick learner with adaptability to new environments
- Strong troubleshooting and decision-making abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Valid driver’s license (Class G minimum) and comfortable driving a pickup truck and trailer
- Must hold a valid passport or equivalent
- Mechanical and electrical experience preferred
- Ontario Power Generation and/or Bruce Power LP security clearance and Orange Badge training advantageous
- Competency in Windows environment, including Excel, Outlook, and Word
- Fully vaccinated to enter client sites
Additional Information: Successful applicants will undergo security clearance requirements post-hiring. The starting wage for this position is $24 per hour.
