AddressThe Great Bear project is a development-stage asset located in the renowned and prolific Red Lake mining district, and represents one of the most exciting recent gold discoveries globally. The project has excellent potential to become a top-tier deposit that could support a large, long-life mine complex. Kinross’ comprehensive exploration and development program will aim to support the vision of a quality, high-grade, open-pit mine and a longer-term, sizeable underground mine.
Purpose of Role
You will be responsible for monitoring activities in the environmental department to ensure compliance with environmental regulations at the Kinross Great Bear site.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Collect and monitor environmental data (including but not limited to surface water, ground water, air & noise, light and acid rock drainage).
- Organize and coordinate logistics for field programs in collaboration with external consultants.
- Supervise/assist subcontractors during field work including excavation, sampling, borehole drilling, etc.
- Organize and carry out sampling schedules for all environmental programs including external laboratory audits.
- Review and maintain accurate data and test results in accordance with site standards and Government sampling and monitoring criteria.

- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skill Requirements
- Post-secondary education in a related field and a minimum of 2-3 years technical experience in the environmental field and/or in the mining industry.
- Familiar with Occupational Health and Safety Act and Environmental legislation.
- Ability to work outdoors and in inclement weather; proficient in the use of watercraft, snowmachine and ATV/UTV.
- Valid Class G driver’s license
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and extended hours in order to facilitate field baseline programs.
Working Conditions
This position is located in Red Lake, ON. In this role, you will work a 5X2 schedule.
