Job description

The Environmental, Health and Safety Analyst is responsible for supporting the initiatives of the Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) department. The incumbent will support the consolidation and management of EHS data, reporting and analytics, maintains EHS systems, and supports the development of EHS programs and procedures. In addition, s/he assists with EHS audits and inspections.
The incumbent is expected to behave ethically and follow the established code of business conduct, policies and internal control procedures, laws and regulations governing Toronto Hydro.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Gathers, organizes, and analyzes data to support departmental/divisional and/or organizational management systems and objectives. Executes timely reporting to support daily/weekly/monthly management system requirements (cyclical) and ad-hoc requests.
-Reports on departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).
-Conducts data gathering, gap analysis and creates dashboards for better data visualization relevant to EHS statistics, safety leadership, compliance, and incidents.
-Liaises with stakeholders to collect required data for reporting and provides data to stakeholders as requested.
-Acts as a key departmental resource for the implementation of systems, tools and processes.
-Works with internal (i.e. information technology) and/or external vendors, supports system enhancements, testing and troubleshooting.
-Coordinates small-scale system updates for EHS systems.
-Assists with business unit requests for system enhancements, gathers requirements, verifies system capabilities, and recommends solutions. Monitors and verifies the quality and integrity of source data.
-Participates in internal and external audits of system data and HR processes.
-Manages, communicates and maintains EHS related content.
-Participates as subject matter expert (SME) on EHS related technology system upgrades or new projects.
-Conducts audits and inspections with assistance and guidance from senior team members.
-Supports the implementation of EHS program development.
-Suggests recommendations for changes to programs and procedures and executes updates.
-Creates new procedures and job aids based on department needs.
 
REQUIREMENTS:
-Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety or related discipline or Bachelor’s degree plus post-graduate certificate program in Occupational Health & Safety
-1-3 years of Environment, Health and Safety experience
-Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
-Uses data to support fact based decision making
-Familiarity with EHS data management systems
-Knowledge and background in EHS processes and procedures
-Familiarity with EHS management systems such as ISO 45001 and 14001
-Safety focused attitude and a strong commitment to general EHS standards
-Prepare and support the department budget
-Strong competency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint)
-Excellent time management and organization skills; prioritizes effectively and adheres to timelines
-Problem solving skills and takes initiative to research solutions
-Builds strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
-Drives results and accountability; ability to function in a fast-paced environment
-Flexible and adaptable to new challenges and department needs
-Demonstrates a strong commitment to personal and professional development
                                     
Toronto Hydro has introduced a Hybrid Work Arrangement. This position allows for remote work up to three days per week, based on business needs.  Employees will be required to come onsite on those days when they are involved in activities that they or their leader feel are better conducted in person. You are expected to live in Ontario and within reasonable commuting distance of the office.
