75 Hrs. Bi-Weekly - 60 hrs of housekeeping services bi-weekly and 15 hrs. management duties.
Education
A post-secondary degree or diploma AND
A minimum of two years experience in a managerial or supervisory capacity.
Knowledge
A sound knowledge of evidence based practices and, if there are none, prevailing practices relating to housekeeping, laundry and maintenance services as applicable.
Demonstrated understanding of and respect for the rights of the long term care resident.
Knowledge of the requirements of the Long Term Care Homes Act and corresponding regulations and all other federal, provincial and municipal statutes which influence the operation of the home.
Knowledge of the safe and effective use of cleaning and laundry supplies and equipment.
Knowledge of the requirements of general building maintenance.
Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety, Infection Control and WHMIS requirements.
Job Performance
Ensure the maintenance of a safe environment for residents, staff and visitors. Establish and enforce the expectation that hazardous conditions and actions are promptly reported and corrected. Apply the principles and standards of Safety First, using consistency in the application of policies and procedures which have been developed to provide a safe work environment for all staff.
Lead the home’s WHMIS education program; ensure all staff are certified in WHMIS training.
Ensure that services and supplies procured from external sources meet the required standards of safety and quality and effectively meet the needs of the residents.
Ensure that all personnel adhere to policies and procedures for infection control.
Work collaboratively with the Administrator to manage WSIB claims including implementation of the organization’s early and safe return to work program.
Summarize the bi-weekly hours of work in the Environmental Services department for the office manager to process payroll.
Cooperate in the development of supportive relationships with representatives of the Ministry of Health, community partners, LHINs, Canadian Council on Health Services Accreditation, CCAC and other external agencies and organizations.
Perform other duties as required.
