Job description

Environmental Summer Student

Key Information:

  • Currently be enrolled in an environmental science or a related discipline and entering your final year of your undergraduate degree is required.
  • Conduct environmental site inspections and assign corrective actions when necessary.
  • Hours: Based on a 40-hour work week (8 hours a day, Monday - Friday) with the option for overtime as required.
  • Hourly rate is dependent on experience.

Job Description:

  • Conduct environmental site inspections and assign corrective actions when necessary.
  • Aiding in the development of documentation such as Environmental Management Plans and project ECO Plans.
  • Supporting the implementation and continuous improvement of the Environmental Management System.
  • Supporting implementation, compliance, and auditing of project spill prevention and waste management processes.
  • Responding to and reporting environmental Incidents Office / Field com bination with potential overnight travel (Project work across BC through Manitoba).
  • Supporting project team members.
  • Completing client prequalification documents.
  • Tracking and maintaining permit application/ renewal status to support work activities.
  • Support the preparation of permit applications and associated compliance reports.

Experience and Certification Requirements:

  • A valid driver's license with a clean driver's abstract is required and must be obtained no more than 30 days prior to employment start date.
  • Must possess (Or be willing to obtain prior to job start) current WHMIS 2015 and CSTS.
  • Currently be enrolled in an environmental science or a related discipline and entering your final year of your undergraduate degree is required.
  • Experience working within the construction field is considered an asset.
  • Extremely proficient administrative skills and a highly professional demeanor required.
  • Attention to detail, organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Proficient and competent in the operation of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to a very dynamic job.

Education: Enrolled in Environmental Science or related discipline.
