The Aquaculture Association of Nova Scotia (AANS) was established in 1977 to act as the primary voice for the aquaculture industry in the province. The main goals of the AANS are to support and unify the efforts of industry and stakeholders to help expand aquaculture production, creating wealth based on a sustainable and renewable resource in Nova Scotia. The AANS represents more than 120 members comprised of suppliers, academic partners, and finfish, shellfish and seaweed farmers who account for 95% of all active aquaculture acreage in Nova Scotia. The mission of the AANS is to support the production of quality farmed seafood in the cool, clear waters of Nova Scotia, creating wealth based on a renewable resource.
The Opportunity
The AANS is currently recruiting an Executive Director (ED) to lead and grow the organization through the management of operations, member programs, and as a lead advocate for Nova Scotia's aquaculture industry. The ideal candidate will have strong strategic leadership skills to ensure the AANS operates in accordance with the strategic direction and policies set by the Board of Directors. You will be responsible for total operational activities, including administration, developing, and maintaining member services and programs, effectively and efficiently. Strong public relations and communications skills are required to implement the AANS' strategic priorities and support sustainable growth and increase awareness of the Nova Scotia aquaculture industry.
