We are currently recruiting for a temporary, full-time Family Home Visitor for our Family Resource Network under our Family and Community Support Services department.
What is the opportunity?
Reporting to the Lead, Family Resource Network, this position will provide intense and targeted in home supports to families requiring services in order to meet residents’ goals and needs. This may include: education and support of parenting and childhood development, working with appropriate stakeholders to advocate for client’s needs and continue the work with those already involved with client, and build capacity in individuals through education and goal accomplishments.
What will you do?
In Home Family Support and building individual goal plans with families to meet their goals
Develop and maintain ongoing contact with social services
Assist and support residents to navigate and access services, programs and resources
Provide caregiver capacity and child development programming for families
What do you need to succeed?
You are an ideal candidate if you have the following:
Post-secondary education, with a diploma in social services and/or human services discipline.
Solid understanding of childhood development and the needs of parents, children and families is preferred.
Integrated Strategies for Home Visitation, Suicide Intervention, Mental Health First Aid and Standard First Aid are assets. Equivalencies will be considered.
Minimum three (3) years of experience working one-on-one with individuals and families, as well as working in partnerships with a variety of agencies.
Experience working with a diverse population that may be experiencing mental health, poverty, homelessness and/or addictions issues.
Knowledge of housing, employment, social services and supportive agencies.
Training in ASQ-3 an SE2, Kimochis, Circle of Security, VTRA and Nobody’s Perfect would be considered an asset.
Must be able to maintain healthy boundaries, communicate care and provide professional referrals.
Successful completion of a Child Intervention check.
Experience and training in Emergency Social Services is an asset.
Be willing to work flexible hours that may include evenings and weekends.
Must have an operator’s license and vehicle to drive.
